I was looking for my first cast iron set but didn't want to buy items individually then have to find lids or get a pot with a lid but it's just a pot. This is the best of both worlds, a pot with a lid and a pan. It's amazing, I use it everyday. Of course it's cast iron so it's heavy but it's durable.

It's like having 2 cast iron frying pans and a dutch oven all in one. It makes sense to buy this for efficient use of space and if the price is less than name brand. The quality is good and it works very well. It fits perfectly in my RV oven because it's not as tall as some dutch ovens but tall enough for baking sourdough bread. Cast iron should not be used for boiling liquids, stews, and acidic foods like vinegar and pasta sauce though and it's very high maintenance. Cast iron excels at frying food, searing meat, and baking bread.

I like this pan a lot, I use it for bread and everyday cooking. I have used cast iron for 40+ years. The seasoning from the factory is light, most likely 1 coat to prevent rust. The surface texture needed some work. I am used to other brands that are straight cast, this was a little rougher. It had small bumps that protruded enough to prevent a spatula from easy crossing the surface, not a huge deal, 10-15 minutes of power sanding and it was perfect. With the sanding, it needed reseasoned anyway. I purchased this for less than $30, 2in1 pan, it is a good deal, it just needs a little love to be your goto pan.
