This is a great dehydrator. I use it a lot and I like it a lot. It looks great. It’s easy to clean. The controls are easy and fast to operate. The temperatures are accurate. It’s very quiet. I highly recommend this dehydrator. It’s almost perfect. Whoever designed this didn’t R&D this and didn’t think it thru. The fan in the back of the unit does a great job of moving the air, but the air is blown unevenly over the trays because of the fan hub in the middle of the unit. In front of the hub there is little to no air movement so the food items on the center racks do not dehydrate evenly. On the center rack, the center third is still moist when the left and right thirds are finished dehydrating. The dehydration margins are gradient, so it is difficult to separate the dehydrated foods from the hydrated foods on the center rack. See my picture for an illustration of the fan hub in the back of the rack and a top view of the center rack and how the foods are unevenly dehydrated. There is a very simple and inexpensive fix to the design miss. Place a spiral louvre plate over the fan opening. That will swirl the air around the box instead of linear uneven air movement. I may make my own plate, but in the meantime I just use 8 racks instead of 11 and leave the center racks out. I’m happy with doing that to make it work but I shouldn’t have to when there is such an easy design fix. I still gave this five stars because I like it and continue to use it so much. If you need a good quiet dehydrator, buy it. You will be happy too. Update: The racks are about 1/4” off of square. It’s difficult to know how to orient the racks it load them. Hit and miss. Frustrating. Square racks would have been much smarter. ... show more

I have used this mostly to make fruit leathers. Makes the house smell amazing! I try to use it on colder days only because it does put out a lot of heat. This is built well and I like all the features and space this has.

    • Excellent quality, easy to use, great product
I researched dehydrators for years and finally decided on this one, primarily because it's all stainless steel and 10 trays. My use for this is to make dog treats, maybe someday I'll use it to make human treats. So far, I've dehydrated turkey hearts, beef kidney, roast beef, hot dogs and chicken. I don't dry them all the way, preferring a more leathery consistency than hard or crunchy (choking hazard if they swallow wrong). I want them soft and chewy for training treats, just dry enough that they don't leak in the treat pouches or bottom of the cooler (Ziploc bags are not leak proof). After getting the treats to the desired consistency, they peel well from the mesh trays - a small percentage need a bit more effort to peel off. The trays clean easily after soaking and using a soft brush. I use a fruit roll tray in the bottom for drips and that cleans easily too. I dry the trays with a towel and am impressed that there are almost no sharp edges to catch the towel. The inside of the unit cleans easily too with a damp cloth. The quality is excellent - no sharp edges anywhere. Only minor issue was the directions said to peel off the packing tape covering the display and logo. When I peeled it off the logo, about half of the letters peeled off with the tape. I emailed the seller to try and get a new decal and they asked for my invoice; I haven't heard from them since sending the invoice. Eventually, I'll try and peel off the rest of the letters.     • Great larger dehydrator with options
This dehydrator has been fantastic so far! I wanted to see how much I could fit, so I had a bag of 14 schoolboy apples and a bag of 9 pears I got sliced up and put in there. Filled 10 trays, and had one left over! Not to mention the way it evenly heats everything leaves things with a more crispy texture than my old tray stacking dehydrator. So far there are 3 minor inconveniences that I have noticed, and I'll mention them just because I know that's important to some people. First, the door has no handle. You have to kind of wedge your fingers between the door and the body to release it from the magnets that hold it closed. I'm guessing they didn't add a handle for aesthetic. Second, anything that drops or drips through the trays ends up on the bottom, and you have to clean the machine, instead of a removable tray. To fix this, I took one of the fruit leather trays it came with, turned it sideways and set it in the bottom of the machine while I was making jerky. Caught all the drippings, made it easy to clean. And third, you have to start the machine in order to change the time and temp settings. Every other appliance I have ever used with a temp and time control has you SET the temp and time prior to starting, so it was a little counter intuitive at first. That being said, I love this thing. I love that I can dehydrate large batches of food, and its nice that it beeps when it's done. I would recommend this dehydrator for anyone looking to do some serious dehydrating, or dehydrate in large batches. (This is for the 11 tray model) ... show more
