Top Amazon Reviews

  • The review you are looking for!
Size: Premium Kit Color: White
I had been searching for about 3 weeks to buy a snow cone machine. I went through thousands of reviews looking for something that would work at home but would also be powerful enough to use for parties, birthdays, school events, ect... I finally narrowed my search down to just two different machines. The snowie and one other. The other machine was bigger and bulky but I knew would be powerful enough to do large groups. At the very last minute I noticed the snowie had went on sale and ended up getting it as well as saving over $100 plus got extra cups and syrups with it. I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best because I knew I had a school event coming up and would need to make at least 115 snow cones all at once with this machine. On the day of the event I went in set everything up and got to work pumping out snow cones. By the time it was all said and done I had made snow cones for the whole school aside from two 3rd grade classes who had other things going on that day. A total of around 230 cones I made in less than 2 hours. I bought 6 20lb bags of ice and only used 3. This little powerhouse pumped them out so fast and used such little ice to do so. I had bought 6 Oz cups off of Amazon to give an idea of sizing. The following week I had another school event where I knew I would be making well over 300 snow cones but was confident by then I wouldn't have any issues. This time I bought 9oz clear cups so we could make sure the syrups were soaking the whole way through to the bottom. I bought 10/ 20lb bags of ice this time and made about 450 snow cones this time and still ended up with 3 and a half bags of ice left over. The cups were full to the top and rounded just like you get from a snow cone shop. Again this machine pumped the snow cones out like it was nothing. It's a serious little power house and absolutely great. Definitely one of the best purchases I ever made. The fact that I can pick it up and carry it by the handle with one hand is also amazing. I can use it at home with ease or take it somewhere and be confident I won't have any issues pumping out a couple hundred cones. I know that the manufacturer says it's not really meant to be used for large group events however on the bottom of the machine it does state it is for at home or commercial use. I can't say enough good things about my little snowie machine it's absolutely amazing and super powerful. I only had 2 issues both of which are easy enough to deal with. The first one was every now and again a chunk of ice would turn and get stuck however the machine has a safety feature that stops the motor and won't let it run again until the ice is adjusted. I had no fear of being hurt at all and just stuck my hand down in there to adjust the ice and then continued on...you could easily use a spoon or something of that nature also to adjust the ice if you wanted to also. The other issue if you want to call it that is, it's definitely loud. However you can't really expect anything that is taking whole chunks of ice and grinding them into snow the consistency of powder to be quite. So I don't really consider that an issue. So if you are the person like I was hunting for a review that states how many snow cones you could make for a large gathering or event then look no farther. My largest group so far was about 450 using 9oz cups I went through 6 and a half 20lb bags of ice. I bought the gallon jugs of snappy snow cone syrup off of Amazon also 1 of every flavor plus extra Blue Raspberry and extra of 3 other flavors that are popular in my area and never ran out of flavoring either. Those bottles of syrup served 680 people and I still have plenty left I could do it all over again. I don't know if I would suggest trying to push the machine to do more than about 600 to 800 all at once but I'm pretty certain it would do it with ease if it had to. THIS IS THE MACHINE YOU WANT buy it and you'll be in love just the same as I am and thankful you went with the Little Snowie! ... show more

  • All pros, no cons
Size: 6 Stick Kit Color: White
We received our Snowie a few days ago and we have been using it non-stop ever since. So let's go through this a bit. 1) We liked this machine because it allows you to use ice cubes instead of pucks. So, big plus for convenience; however, not all ice is created equal. We found the the ice cubes from our fridge's ice machine work wonderfully and create beautifully fluffy snow, but we tried buying a bag of ice when our fridge machine ran out (yes we used it that much 🤣) and the end result was thick chipped ice like you would get in a traditional snow cone. I have no idea why this is the case, but I suspect it has something to do with commercial ice being made with purified/distilled water. Our tap water is kind of on the hard side, and I think that might be a factor. Either way experiment with different ices if you're not getting the results you expect! 2) The dripping! As others have mentioned you may experience dripping from the output spout. You can reduce the amount of dripping by making sure you remove any compacted snow from inside the chute after use, and also do not leave any in shaved cubes in the reservoir. If you do get left over cube bits, just tip this bad boy upside down over your sink using the handle on the back. If these two conditions are met, just place a single paper towel under the spout after using and you won't have a mess. No need for a $40 tray. 3) Also on the list of things others have mentioned this thing is SUPER LOUD. It kind of has to be though. You don't turn on a blender to make a smoothie and then complain about how loud it is, so why should this be any different? You're chopping ice! You're only running it for 15 seconds at a time (it's super fast), so if 15 seconds of loud noise is too much for you, just skip this purchase. 4) The bottles that come with it are very nice to have, and they dispense syrups very cleanly and conveniently, but the syrup powders are garbagio. We bought RIO brand syrups because we're from the STL area and firmly believe that RIO makes the best syrups around. We put our syrups into the bottles and they work great. 5) the little shovel spoons that come with it are awesome! My kids love the two clear colored ones that change into red/blue when they get cold. They're a fun addition to eating these treats, and we've really enjoyed them. They keep us from using up all of the spoons in the house! 6) The cost savings! We calculated out that a 20 oz cup of shaved ice at a local stand runs about $4. With the cost of the syrups and the cost of the machine, we calculated that in order to recoup that cost we'd have to make 80 shaved ices. We've only had the machine for 4 days and we've already made almost 40 snow cones. Considering we're hitting summer this machine will have paid for itself 10 times over pretty soon. 7) Safety first! The design is such that you can't slice your fingers by putting them in the chute and you can't turn the machine on while a hand is inside the reservoir. I know some people don't like that you push the lid down to operate but it's actually a safety feature, and I like it so my kids fingers stay attached because kids do dumb things, and there's no need to temp fate. ... show more
