I had a food saver sealer for several years and it simply stopped sucking. Reading the reviews on this Ink Bird, and for the price I gave it a shot, and I was not disappointed. I am happy to see that it works with food saver cannisters and bags so I don't have to buy new ones, especially in this economy. It is simple to use, no instructions needed, it is fairly intuitive. There is one small caveat. How the cutter is used, is a bit of an annoyance to me, but I can live with it. The lever does not open very far, so it makes it cumbersome to use a large roll. I like to measure the amount I need against whatever I am sealing, but you have to role the amount back to get it in the slot, then express the bag out again, hoping you remembered how much you measure. I solved this my parking on the roll with a pen. Like I said, a minor annoyance that anyone can live with. I like it, it works great, it seals great, and it is quick. In addition, it includes extra parts for the sealing that the food saver did not. This is great in the event the foam seal cracks or chips. You have spare. That alone is a major plus for me. The vacuum sealer arrived quickly and I like the included accessories. The ability to store a roll of bags inside the sealer is a nice bonus that other similar-priced sealers don’t offer. I have been using vacuum sealers for a long time and I have invested in a chamber vacuum sealer. I bought this sealer in addition to the more expensive option because it provides a great option for sealing dry good from the store in traditional packaging. Things like chips, ice cream cones, dried fruit, beef jerky and frozen fruit all come in non-resealable plastic packaging. This is a major disappointment because they have a long shelf life when stored properly but are very quick to go bad once opened. Sealing chips prevents them from getting stale and sealing frozen goods will prevent freezer burn. This sealer provides a seal only function which is great for small items like single serve bags of chips or pretzels. No need to vacuum seal these since they probably only survive one or two attempts from a toddler. For larger bags of chips or cereal, the pulse function is great for removing some air without crushing the chips. This is one area where this sealer is better than my chamber sealer. As soon as the air is removed you can stop the suction and seal the bag. These sealers require the use of special vacuum bags which can be expensive, but a wide variety of options are available. The integrated roll cutter makes it easy to use the bags on a roll. Rolls of bags are significant cheaper than the premade bags and, in my opinion, easier to use since items are rarely the same size as the bag. The premade bag is always a little too small or too big. The sealing of this using was sufficient to seal even a big box size bag of chips without issue. There is a seam on most store bags, and I recommend leaving that side away from the heating element to get the best seal. The durability of the seal on the vacuum bags is very good. In my testing I was able to rip the plastic before the seal failed. This is what you would expect from a good seal since it should be 2 bonded layers instead of a single layer of material. ... show more

    • Good Build Quality, Suction, Ease of Use for First-timer!
NOTE: Full disclosure, this is a compensated review, but that doesn't change the quality of the product. The requirement was simply that I review it honestly. I had been looking for vacuum sealers for a bit of time, and had already used InkBird products before, so I figured that I would give this one a shot. Its nice and straightforward for a first-timer like myself. Easy to understand modes, alignment of the bag, etc. It's a comparatively light unit from a weight perspective. My dad has a vacuum sealer and it's much heavier, but this one performs just as well if not better. The suction is more than sufficient to perform the vacuum sealing that I performed. Note that I did not try on anything wet, only dry sealing. I originally paid $80 for the unit, and I feel that it's a fair price given all that comes in the box. Right now I've only just sealed a few items and they're in my freezer, but they aren't discolored at all and the seal held strong. I'm pretty impressed with the build quality. The aluminum/plastic construction feels solid in the hands and even has a good "chunk" when you close the cover properly indicating a good seal. Overall, I really like the product. The ONLY thing that concerns me is the rather ominous, "Vacuum 200 Times Continuously". I'm not sure if this is a thing with all vacuum sealers, but I will not be happy if after 200 uses it just stops working. This is my ONLY reason for giving it 4 stars. ... show more

I am a pretty heavy user of vacuum sealers and was excited to get this new Inkbird product. While I own a heavy duty sealer, this new product is far more portable and great for taking on the go. The sealer is super easy to use and now features storage for your bags which is really helpful for the same purpose. Additionally, there is a simple bag cutting feature built in.
