As a newbie to food preservation, I bought this thinking it was a good starter set for pressure canning. Further research has shown me I was wrong. This is only a pressure cooker and not a canner. It does not have a pressure gauge to ensure correct pressure achievement or sustainment. I will not feel confident about the safety of anything I canned in this unless it is something that could be canned in only the water bath. Now I have to spend even more money to get an actual canner. The manual says their recipes are safe, but I am afraid to use this set up for other recipes. Very disappointed that I didn't know what to look for, which is primarily on me. But they could be a little more assertive about what this product is and what it is not. ... show more

Pros first- Packaged very nice. Complete set and reasonable price. Cons - magnet came out of lid lifter very 1st time using it. Wire rack for jars after 1 use already has what appears to be rust and does not come off. After using canner a few days the wire rack BROKE and cannot use it. Poor quality there. The recipe books aren't anything i am looking to pressure can and doesn't give detail for cook times on allot of foods. Cannot say this is is a good investment for a long term use canner. ... show more
