I was so excited to fire this up since it arrived super quick, was wrapped perfect and everything was so small and compact versus the old school round ones I am used to. Looking forward to having counter space and a upscale look, I figured smaller would equal more heat and smaller batches as I wanted something with a timer and would be a "set it and forget it" till my nose tells me It was ready.. Well, It never got hot. I got a few 8888's and 0000 with no timer or counter going, I can change from 160F to lower, or from 10:00 Hrs? up and down, but then it goes back to 8888 or 0000. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong, tried a few plugs, went back a few min to 20 min later to check the heat and no changes on the display or heat in either 8888 or 0000 mode. I reached out through customer service about operations.... Well it turned out it was User error. Ooops! The customer service team gave me the updated instructions, and It turned on immediately and got warm fast. I heated the empty trays a bit, then layered it with some great flap carne asada, the pre-soaked meat and added some pepper. Super excited it's working!! Love it, looking forward to doing onions and garlic and tomatoes and dust them em up for later use. Such a great way to preserve. If you need more space than about 2 lbs, I'd say get the bigger model, I would. It's worthy. Most of the cuts were done in 6 hrs, the rest a few more should it it. Perfection! What started off almost bad turned out fine after I figured out my error with the customer service team, and the whole house smells amazing. I like the timer feature and digital temp readout. There is no warmth even or heat at all on the counter itself, and I did rotate the cuts what normally takes 12 hrs was done in 6. the metal panels were east to clean. This is a Gem. Great product A+ ***Here are the updated instructions *** if anyone else is having difficulty turning it on: Dear Customer: Here are the operation steps: 1. After plugging in the plug, 8888 will appear and then jump to 0000 2. Click on the power button, 8888 will flash into the selection of the temperature and time 3. Click on the TEMP/TIME, the time appears to flash, for the time to add or subtract the selection of the time 4. After selecting the time and click on the TEMP/TIME, the temperature appears to flash, for the temperature to add or subtract the selection of the temperature 5. After the temperature is selected, it will flash for about 3 seconds and the product will start to work, and the screen will count down the time at this time. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to contact our customer service team. We will do our best to provide you with excellent service. As someone who got inspired to get into the hobby of beef jerky making I came across this dehydrator and I was skeptical with its size but it is perfect for personal small batch use. It works flawlessly and the functions are easy and straightforward to use. I was able to make a batch in 14 hours and it can go as long as 48 hours if needed. I like the compact size of this and it works well. It is very lightweight, which makes it a lot more portable than other dehydrators. You will smell your food almost instantly. That’s usually a good thing, but if it’s a smell you don’t like or want to smell, you will want to put it in a room and close the door. You will have to play with the time settings. It includes a recipe book and a lot of stuff is supposed to be dehydrated at 165° but this only goes to 160°. I made zucchini chips which were supposed to cook at 165° for 12 hours and I said it to 160° and 13 hours and they came out great. I use the recipe in their book and love the chips. I felt like I was eating something fattening, but they were completely healthy. I am going to dehydrate stuff for other snacks so that I have options to take me if I’m going to be somewhere where I am likely to be tempted to eat something I don’t want to. The racks are dishwasher safe, but it will depend on your dishwasher. They will not fit between the tines in my dishwasher rack. I was really disappointed about that. The trays are 1.25 inches deep so you will need to have that much clearance between your dishwasher tines. ... show more

This is a replacement for my old round norelco dehydrator. I like the rectangular shape more than the round. You can add more into a rectangular tray. The low to high temperature range is good. Plenty for what I need. My plan is mostly for herbs and fruit. This is on the smaller side so if you do a massive amount of dehydrating like jerky and other big projects this might not be for you. This is a nice compact dehydrator. It allows you to set the temperature and you can set a timer or up to 48 hours. It is very easy to use and clean. I tried drying some fruit and it was quite simple and works flawlessly.
