I've gone through several different types of popcorn machine, and this one is a clear favorite for me. The stir rod is sturdy and does the job well. The top cover doubles is a popcorn bowl and it's large enough for a huge serving of popcorn. It also has an easy to remove top so you can melt butter into the popcorn as it pops. The popcorn really pops well in this as well, a very even and quick popping. I use the Amish country popcorn you can buy here on Amazon which is some of the best I've ever had and they have a huge variety as well. I recommend checking them out too. My son wanted a popcorn maker, and I spent a lot of time flip-flopping on which one to get and did a lot of research. I opted for this one for many reasons. Storage and ease of use and cleaning. This was also recommended from a friend, so I settled on this and am so glad I did. My kid and I have loved making popcorn and watching it pop and using the lid as the bowl and trying different seasonings. Easy to clean. Easier to store than other popcorn poppers. When I ordered this popcorn popper it was to replace a red Stir Crazy. I've only bought Stir Crazy poppers, and always recommended them to others. The newer models don't seem to last as long as the older versions. The older machines lasted for several years, and now I'm lucky if the newer versions last 1 year. This one started out working well, but within a month it started to take longer to pop the majority of the popcorn kernels. Since the machine is taking longer to heat, the popcorn doesn't taste the same. Unfortunately, I will be looking for another brand of popcorn poppers to purchase since West Bend machines seem to not be reliable anymore. ... show more

This popcorn popper was an awesome addition to my kitchen as it popped popcorn effortlessly and the family loved to watch it go. After about a year of light use, I noticed popcorn kernels getting dark but not popping. At first I thought maybe it was stale kernels, so I tried them the old-school way on the stovetop in a skillet. They popped perfectly, so I knew there was something wrong with the heating element.
