I have been using wella products for years. I am a former hairdresser so I have been doing my own color all these years. I like wella color charm because it delivers a great natural looking color. I use 1 Oz 20 strength Creme developer, with 2/3’s 8RG/729 Titan Red Blonde and last third I divide equally with 4/N 411 medium brown and 5RG/ 445 5 light auburn to achieve the color shown. After I colored my whole head of hair the first time, I only color the new grown in roots from there on. I leave on for 25 minutes. I find that when people color their hair this auburn color at home or rather any red color, it tends to look fake using this one product unless the natural hair is on the dark side. If it’s over white or gray, blonde, well, definitely doesn’t read well. With the medium brown added to it, it tones down the fake look. I’m 68 for reference and yes I do wear makeup and have good skin. But I think because of my realistic looking color and below my shoulder length hairstyle people think I’m around 55 thereabouts. I will color my hair as my mom did until I can’t and she did till she passed at 80. Anyway, great products and so easy to get on Amazon and even cheaper with auto replenish. ... show more

This is my favorite red! I’ve attached a pic of my hair prior, I’ve been using this color every 6-8 weeks for over a year and it’s just gotten more vibrant overtime. I’m constantly asked if I’m a true redhead, it’s a very believable natural red for me. If you over process it, it will start looking more burgundy toned and less natural so definitely stick with 30-40 minutes. At this point, none of my hair is bleached but it was beautiful on bleached hair as well, faded out to be more of a strawberry blonde. On my natural color with 20 volume developer, this is what I get and it just becomes dull after 6-8 washes (4-5 weeks). ... show more

I have way more salt than pepper hair after going gray from a natural dark brown with red overtone. Sorry to say gray doesn’t look great with my coloring (I was a “dark autumn”). I did not want to go back to coloring dark brown every 2-3 weeks as I’d get that white stripe in no time.I had about 3” inches of my now natural color and below was bleached that needed blending. I used a 20 volume developer and I got some lift on some of my still dark brown hairs which was not expecting. Now I have neutral very pale blond, mixed strands so it’s not all a solid color which is what I wanted. No demarcation line from natural to older bleached hair. I have not needed a toner…yet. I only put color on roots then pulled through rest of hair before rinsing. This is perfect as I did not want a yellow/golden blonde color. I mixed color charm’s permanent liquid hair color medium ash brown 4A/237 with color charm cream developer vol 10 and applied it to my roots only to cover my grays and naturally blend with my brown hair. Most of my grays dyed nicely, but some stubborn strands turned out looking more highlighted than medium brown. Overall, I think it looks great! Other than the intense odor, how bad this stuff is for your hair, skin and the environment, I have no complaints! 😆 ... show more

Does not turn your hair a light gray. It turns your hair a very dark blue. If you want blue hair for Christmas, wella 050 is the color for you
