This brand is amazing and I'm going to work through their entire catalog and pledge fealty. Seriously. Just do yourself the solid and try it. Product came in fast, had a super cute sticker and appreciation card in the package, which was well cushioned and wrapped to prevent any possible damage s during shipping. The dye itself was a thicker cream base which allowed for a great saturated pigment deposit in my hair and felt like I didn't have to guess for coverage during application. Dye smelled fantastic too which is always a plus, and ended up being super moisturizing for my hair and any excess easily came off my skin - real chefs kiss moment was there was no staining in my shower either during rinse! I've used many of the major brands of semi permanent fashion hair colors (eg, Manic Panic, Adore, Punky Color, Joico) but never found the shade of blue I wanted. Not one brand has a true blue; every "blue" offered fades to turquoise. Lunar Tides Smoky Navy is a genuine blue. Now, it's lighter than the swatch online or on the barn but it's a beautiful shade of navy with a silvery gray undertone. I left it on (clean, dry, virgin naturally silver hair without product) for one hour even though the label states 35 minutes. It rinses out well (foaming like a good shampoo). Oh, it has a light, pleasant fragrance. I don't wear gloves when I use semi permanent dye or color depositing shampoo because the degree and longevity of any staining on my skin indicates how long the dye will last on my hair. My fingertips are very faintly discolored, as are my cuticles, indicating that the dye should last slightly longer than other brands. The color is gorgeous. I'm going to age myself here, but I've been dyeing my hair since the only options were Manic Panic and Punky. I have used a lot of subpar dyes over the years trying out new brands. With that being said, I think I am now a Lunar Tides convert. The dye was thick and super color depositing. It smelled amazing. And my hair is super soft after using it. I have a LOT of hair so I got the 8 oz, and was surprised that I have half the bottle left with full head saturation. I have heard great things about the dye longevity as well. I will definitely be using this dye from now on! ... show more

At first I was a little nervous reading the reviews and people saying it washes out after only 3 washes but it really just depends. I think if you recently bleached your hair this product works the best. I already washed my hair 3 times and every time you shampoo the color comes out but my hair is still very vibrant. It is only a temporary hair dye, it’s not suppose to last. The application was very easy but don’t make the same mistake I did and comb the dye through your hair. I ended up having some streaks very light and others very bright. Although I kind of liked it like that so I left it. I bought the orchid purple for anyone who is interested, 2 of the 4oz jars was not enough for my hair length I would have probably needed 3 to give people an idea of how much. I used Cerulean Sea. I’ve never done blue before and I really liked it. It was over a 2 month faded purple which you can see the remainder of on the other half of my head. Under the purple was partially bleached partially not. I haven’t done a second wash yet and it definitely transfers on my skin a little bit. My fingernails on that side of my body are a little blue from touching it and so is my back. But I don’t mind. I like it. ... show more

Alright so, I am a quick shopper even online, I’ll check reviews and pictures and maybe check out a YouTube video to see a better view of the color. I however didn’t notice it was vegan, I tend to avoid vegan products because simply I have not found any that meet my expectations for what I need or expect. I understand if it’s a lifestyle/ethical choice, more power to you, live your truth: but me personally, this brand now added to the list along with arctic fox are thumbs down for me. Arctic fox bleeds non stop everywhere, seems to permanently dye anything but your hair, and washes out in about 3 washes. Now with this product Pros: -it did not stain my skin, that was cool -it’s pretty thick so I did not make any kind of mess apply it, again cool -if you want like a fun little change for about a week, this is perfect because it washes out quick. -it didn’t bleed onto my clothes or bedding, or skin when washing my hair But that’s where the pros end Cons: - I couldn’t grip the seal so I used a safety pin to help me get an end up, some of the product came out on the safety pin and I saw even though it was thick, for hair color it’s fairly translucent. Red flag if you are experienced in regularly dying your hair 😩 if you want a lighter version or very temporary color it would be ideal, but for vibrance and hang time NOPE. -just when I rinsed it out, COLD WATER, and used no shampoo I could tell it was going to wash out quick, and I was right, it lasted about 3 washes total, pretty much gone after the 2nd wash honestly. My hair is not over processed or anything that would contribute to loss of color at that rate. I even use baby shampoo since it’s no harsh chemicals and honestly has helped preserve my colors better than any “color saving” products on the market. Another thing I didn’t favor was it didn’t stick to my freshly bleached roots. Again experienced hair artists know that usually will be the brightest spot, as well as bleaching helping seal color in if you do it correctly in a time period. So PRETTY MUCH if you want something temporary, or you’re wanting to test drive a color but not ready to commit; this is perfect. However if you’re looking for something that is long lasting, this is not it. May be a basic bih but I’ve been doing this for 17 years and have tried dozens of dye products and ion color brilliance I personally don’t feel can be beat. Extremely vibrant color, very minimal bleeding/transfer after coloring and even that just depends on the color, you may not get any bleeding or transfer at all. It also lasts a long time, as well as fades evenly so you won’t have splotchy hair as it fades, you’ll just go through lighter shades of Itself. ... show more
