I became familiar with Tramontina cookware several years ago when I saw it at Walmart. The specs were quite impressive so I got the set. A couple of years ago, Consumer Reports named it a best buy. I highly recommend the Tramontina Tri-ply clad stainless steel cookware.

    • This thing is ASTONISHINGLY heavy.

I bought the Tramontina 2-quart saucepan. And while the quality is absolutely obvious, this is so heavy, I found that it's a bit difficult to hand-wash. It's like the handle hasn't been designed to balance the pot so that you can confidently move the pot around. I bought this after seeing a similar All-Clad pot in a local store, then deciding to look elsewhere after looking at its price, and then picking myself up off of the floor after fainting. I went back to that store after using this Tramontina a few times, and I sure got the impression that the All-Clad pot was noticeably lighter than the Tramontina version. I haven't tried to verify this with actual published weight numbers, but I would recommend that anyone who might have trouble dealing with a substantially heavier-than-usual pot should consider the weight of this pot carefully before proceeding with an order. ... show more

I recently bought Tramontina frying pans since I couldn't afford the Allclad (recommended as comparable), I was impressed by them so when I decided to upgrade my shaking unlevel sauce pan, I came straight to this one. I am not disappointed! It is heavy, but that's to be expected with the tri-layers. It could be unwieldy if you have wrist or hand issues. I've made mostly potatoes in this pot and it heats evenly, they seem too cook faster than my old pan. Water for spaghetti seems to boil sooner at a lower temp. I love the tempered glass lid. Cleaning is easy, any spotting can be removed with a bit of Bar Cleaner's Friend. ... show more
