Description

The Leap is Steelcase's 1 Ergonomic office chair. Includes the Headrest Option and the Soft Hard Floor Casters. Headrest adjusts 2 1⁄4" vertically and adds 6 3⁄4" to 9" to the overall height. Plastic shell on the headrest is available in black only. Upholstery is available to match the seat material or black vinyl only. Headrest is not available on stools or Plus models. I was able to adjust the chair easily using the on-line guides and it is really comfortable. Then I leaned back a little and realized that there is no way to feel comfortable with the head rest. If you look at it from the side view it pushes your head forward, even if you try to make it fit at the base of your skull. As a professional day-trader, I am sitting at my trading station for many hours a day. I needed to replace a leather executive office chair that was worn out and that was causing considerable back and rear-end pain (I am of thin build with little rear end padding :-)). I considered the Steelcase Leap 2 vs the Hermon Miller Aeron. I chose the Steelcase because of the more traditional cloth material vs the mesh and reviews I'd read about the comfort of mesh for people like me. The return policy was really attractive as well even though I did not need it. The Leap chair has made a huge difference in dealing with my chronic back and rear end pain. Key to this is the really flexible adjustments for seat depth, back stops, back force, lower back firmness, and lumbar height. I'm very happy with my decision to go with the LEAP v2. ... show more

I am an illustrator and spend many hours sitting... often through the night, sometimes through many nights to finish a project on time. A quality chair is essential equipment... more so than a computer or laptop. The first top-quality chairs I bought (30 years ago) were Hag... the Capisco (which I still have and use) and another full-size version with a headrest (I don’t recall the name). I finally wore out the full-size version and bought an Aeron. My wife fell in love with that one so I bought the Leap. Of all these great chairs, I think the Leap is the best. I love the Aeron as well, but it’s not as supportive in my opinion. The capisco is not really an office chair ... it’s best for work that involves a lot of movement. The Leap is great for extended hours. I wish I had bought the headrest version. For lengthy work on a computer, an adjustable headrest is extremely important imo... as is proper desk height, armrest height and computer screen height, as these affect the position of your body, and you want as natural and relaxed a position as possible. Footrests can also be a big help. I truly loved my headrest Hag to death, but honestly the Leap is a better chair. Buy less and buy better... a chair is vitally important to your health. Don’t skimp... this chair will last you 30 years or more. ... show more

I never have back pains with these chairs and I use them for 8 hours or more. They're highly adjustable. Don't let the styling of the chair fool you because it doesn't look as fancy as some of the other chairs. This is an incredibly comfortable chair. In my opinion, it's more comfortable than the Hermin Miller Aeron, Hag Capisco Chairs, and the Hermin Miller Embody chair. You have lumber adjustable support, the seats adjust, height adjusts, the arms adjust, and the stiffness of the back support when you lean back adjusts. This is a really good chair. ... show more
