  • First ordered in March 2016. Second ordered in July 2023.
First chair I got in 2016 and has been pretty reliable. It still works well. The seats got a little more give to it and the fake leather is starting to peel from where I sit in it cross legged at my desk but otherwise it's a good chair. My other office chair of a cheaper variety but the dust a year or so ago and I have been carting thing one between my office and personal PC for some time. Finally decided it was time to get a second chair. Other than the wear on the seat the first one is fine. Might look into upholstering it eventually but for now other than needing to sweep up the debris every so often it's fine. ... show more

  • Not Low enough for the short of stature
The assembly was easy enough (petite female here). A power screw driver helps. I did not attach the arms (being 5’2” I wanted to scoot in as close to my desk as possible). The seat is roomy so I am able to sit cross legged. The problem, for me, is the seat doesn’t adjust low enough to allow me to put my feet on the floor. If you are of average height and want a budget desk chair, then this seems like a good enough purchase. ... show more

  • I've had this chair since 2015 and it's still alive
I bought this thing in 2015. It's been with me through more moves than I can count, through years and years of use. I sit in this thing very very often. I'm sitting in it right now. The chassis has held up extremely well. Some reviewers have noted the materials of the cushion and arm rests are not so good. That's quite true; I replaced the arm rests with these in 2016, about a year after I bought the chair. They have held up extremely well, they still look brand new. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NJBCPVE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The seat cushion was also something I had to replace. Now this is why the chair gets 5 stars from me. I didn't replace the cushion until 2021, so I had owned the chair for 6 years by that point. The cushion was well worn by that point and had shed a lot of the faux leather, leaving the gray cushion underneath, and there was a hole beginning to form on one part if I remember correctly. I contacted Office Star about getting a replacement cushion. They quoted me at $44.63 to buy a replacement, which of course is much cheaper than buying an entirely new chair. Then, they just sent me the cushion for free and said it was a one time courtesy. For free! To me, that is world class customer service, I mean practically unthinkable, so I'm very pleased to report that my chair still looks just fine for wear in 2023, 8 years later. It's been well worth the investment even though I had to replace/upgrade the arm rests. ... show more

  • Good Value (review from a former furniture installer)
I used to install office furniture (put myself through college that way) and know a fair amount about the construction quality of office chairs. I've probably assembled several thousand of them, everything from Global to Herman Miller to Hon. I've also built the cheap off-brand chairs that big-box office retailers sell. Usually, the less expensive the chair, the lower the quality. A good office chair from a top-shelf brand that matches this chair's design and characteristics would cost 2-3x what this chair does. Usually the difference in cost is due to poor quality plastic parts, a poor quality pneumatic lift mechanism, lower grade leather (if applicable), and junk casters that don't roll freely. After building this chair and testing it out, I can say that it is a very well made chair with quality parts, except for the arm rests. The pneumatics are strong and even and fully support even a large male (I weight 205lbs). The leather seat cushion is comfortable, not over or under stuffed, and sewn with heavy gauge stitching which won't fail quickly. The caster are adequate, and while not quite as nice as those on a premium chair, do roll easily and freely without getting stuck, even on office carpet. The mechanical levers for seat adjustments are well placed and are easy to adjust. The machine quality of the metal parts is good, and the whole chair assembly is firm and well built. The mesh back is responsive, firm, and comfortable. While not adjustable as on some much more expensive models, it does support a variety of back types adequately. If you prefer a very 'cushy' chair back such as an overstuffed chair, this is NOT the chair for you. This is a firm back and lower lumbar support type of chair. What this chair lacks is quality arm rests. They are concave, which is a decent design for those with thinner arms, but if you are a larger person, they can and will become uncomfortable. They are also made of slightly tacky plastic, which doesn't breathe and is much less desirable than leather arm rests in my opinion. Aside from the arm rests, this is a really nice office chair that's built to last. It's well worth the price, and is comparable enough to more expensive models to make it a solid purchase. Assembly tip: either get a 3-point Phillips head screwdriver or a hand wrench to tighten down the machine screws that attach the arms and chair base. A small screwdriver will not be sufficient and you'll find yourself needing to re-tighten them constantly. Trust me, it's better to get them extremely tight the first time around using the correct tool. ... show more
