So after much research, I decided to purchase this brand. It comes very well packaged with good instructions. The materials used are exceptional so it feels very sturdy and should last a lifetime. I bought the 2.5oz preportioned popcorn bags and these fill the popcorn maker perfectly. I made sure to shake the popcorn well before and during cooking and after 4 bags I got a consistent 99% pop rate. The Solo Stove Campfire Popcorn Maker was totally worth it. It seems more expensive compared to similar popcorn makers, but the materials and portability tipped the scales so I took a chance on it. I love it. This was one of the only ones I found where the basket could be removed for easier portability. The long handle is assembled with a Philips screwdriver and can be broken down if need be. Overall, this is quite sturdy and I made someone else hold it over the fire but the materials are great. With judicious shaking and good oil coverage, we had perfectly popped corn. In addition, we also popped this over a Solo Mesa XL, which has an opening that is nearly the exact same size as the popcorn maker, and it still worked great! Yeah, love this popcorn maker. We bought a Solo Stove last year and enjoy using it in all seasons. We were looking for some new fireside snacks other than the usually s'mores type option and stumbled on a DIY popcorn contraption. It didn't really look like a good idea but it made me search to see if Solo Stove had something that would be safer. Lo and behold! They did! This popcorn popper is easy to use. We hover it over the screen shield a bit to get it hot first then add a splash of avocado oil (be sure to use a high temperature oil like avocado or peanut) then add about 1/4 c. of popcorn kernels. Close the lid and hover it close to the heat. We make sure to shake it several times as it heating and popping. The lid is made to open it when you tilt it over a bowl. We tried using a potholder to open it and it was nearly a disaster. Just tilt it over a bowl and trust gravity! Truth be told, you will have some burnt pieces. We have yet to make a batch that hasn't had a wee bit of char. But these pieces are few and there are many, many more pieces of crispy popcorn! ... show more

I love this can be stored easily (even fits inside my solo stove ) handle is easy to put on and take off ,seems very durable, It heated evenly as most of my kernels were popped, and this def could be used for other things if needed , cleans well . Who doesn't like popcorn when you're camping. This is a nice popcorn popper. The handle is long enough so you don't have to be right over the fire. I followed the directions, and my popcorn came out just like I had made it at home. None of them burned. There were a few more unpopped kernels than I would normally have but I think the more I use this pan the more I'll know how long to shake it over the fire/coals. First off, it’s worth mentioning that while it’s made by Solo Stove, it doesn’t need to be used with their fire pits—I’ve used it with a regular campfire pit multiple times, and it works perfectly every time. Previously, I used Jiffy Pop with a special handle for campfire use, which worked well. But finding Jiffy Pop has become a bit hit or miss lately, with my local grocery store no longer carrying it consistently. When I couldn’t find any, I decided to give this popcorn maker a try—and I’m so glad I did! The quality of the popcorn is fantastic—better than anything I’ve made with Jiffy Pop.
