  • Oh brother
I bought this for a gift...how embarrassing to have it blow out a circuit breaker and shut off, never to start again after the first use. After reading thru the reviews, I see I am not the only one. Really is a disgrace to have stuff like this on the market....complete junk, and dangerous too...this thing blew out the circuit breaker, for cripes sake. Orville should get his good name off this product. Presto need not respond. With ALL the poor reviews on this product, you have obviously not addressed any of the customer concerns, or I wouldn't be reporting the same problems. Why would anyone CALL YOU? You can read for yourself what the issues are. Your response just adds insult to injury. Amazon is always great about returns...Im grateful for that. ... show more

  • Do not buy!
I purchased the Presto 04868 Orville Fountain Hot Air Popper as one of my Christmas gifts for one of my sons. After 4 times in use the motor burned out. just two days after christmas. This became an issue with my son since he had been expecting this present, so I proceeded to purchase second one immediately to solve the christmas popcorn making crisis at home, thinking that we must had bad luck with the first one. To our surprise, the second machine broke down on the second try of making popcorn. I have a disappointed son. I lost my money. This Item is a piece of crap. ... show more

  • They love popcorn and we always make it for movies
The media could not be loaded. This was purchased for my three kids. They love popcorn and we always make it for movies. I have grown very unhappy with microwave popcorn because it always seems to come out bad. Burnt, un-popped, and generally feels like I'm not getting a value. After our first two tries, it really does pop nearly 100% if not 100% of all the kernels. Its only been a week but for how simple this device is I don't see a reason why it wouldn't last me a good while. For popcorn nuts this is great! Just don't forget to add the butter and/or salt! The video shows it in action UPDATE: 1 Year later and its still going strong. UPDATE: 2/2/17 -- Just make popcorn yesterday ... show more

  • Nice design to an air popper with no mess
I have owned several hot air poppers before and, though they work well for what they are designed for, I was tired of the unpopped corn flying into the bowl then popping, sending other popped kernels flying out of the bowl, making a mess. I went looking for a air popper designed to keep this from happening and I found that in this popper. I have only used it twice so far so I can't talk about longevity, only that it does what I wanted it to do. There are a couple things they could have done to improve the design...1 being, add a way to lock the bowl on top of the popper until it is done popping then, after turning it over, it could be unlocked. I also don't know why one of the little flaps doesn't fold backwards. I don't see it serves a purpose that way. There are some great pros to this also. 1. The kernels stay in the bowl area 2. It is an air popper - which is one thing I wasn't going to compromise on 3. It has a vented area with a lid that removes while popping but put it back on when popping is finished, turn the unit upside down so the bowl becomes upright ( Hold with both hands on the side handles, keeping the bowl and popper together) ...give it a good shake before removing the popper from the bowl and you will find that any unpopped kernels are in the little lid below the vented area. ... show more

  • Leaves too many unpopped kernals !!
The design is great, but wayward kernels still escape out the top and also into the bowl along with the popped corn. My biggest complaint is all the unpopped corn. And I used a brand new bottle of Orville Redenbacher popcorn. This popper performs poorly compared to my other air popper which every Kernal pops (even if there’s more flying popcorn in my kitchen). ... show more

  • Works great - but don't overfill the popcorn!
Initially, I was puzzled as to why all the reviews seemed to be split between 5-star (saying it popped almost every last kernel perfectly) and 1-star (saying it stops working after 3 seconds)? Now it makes sense: after working great the first time around, mine suddenly stopped working. I was about to send it back, then realized the problem was just that I'd loaded a little bit too much popcorn! - The unpopped kernels should start blowing and bouncing around inside, immediately when you turn it on. If not, that means you've loaded too much and all the heat is being trapped inside the machine, which will quickly overheat and shut itself off. All you need to do is load less kernels (1/4 cup at most according to the manual) and it starts working again! Also, there doesn't seem to be any need to pre-heat it as many have mentioned. And don't forget to take the red cover off the top, to let it vent while popping. That's all it takes to work great every time! Probably many people have returned it in frustration, not realizing they just needed to load a little bit less popcorn. Even just a few extra kernels seems to make a difference. Hope this helps! ... show more

  • So so
I thought the idea of something like this was great, the implementation isn't so great though. The metal clips that stop the unpopped kernels from jumping out aren't attached in the best way, in fact they are attached in a very unreliable way. One of the metal tabs doesn't lift up as the popped kernels attempt to erupt out of the center chamber which causes the unit to overheat and stop running. I think for something like this they could have used a better way of attaching said metal clips. In the off chance my delicate aligning of that one problem tab stays in place while the unit is running it does lift up as the popped kernels erupt out of the chamber, but sometimes the vibration of running the unit causes it to mis-align and refuse to lift up. I'm too lazy to attach a picture but it would illustrate the problem a lot better than I have explained it. I'd probably buy it again I guess as the traditional air poppers just spray unpopped kernels out where this one doesn't. ... show more
