The drum came with a coarse grit sand paper. I had purchased sheets of 120, 220, 400, 600 and 1000 grit sand paper, cut them into 3” x 9” wide strips. They were easy to load and worked exactly as I had hoped. Easy to load and get tight around the drum. The only challenge for me was the finer grit paper ( 600 and 1000) tended to slip due to the thinner paper but to compensate for this, I was able to slide a piece of 120 grit paper around the inner spool. That solved my issue. I was polishing the rim of drinking glasses I was making from bottles and the 1000 grit really brought out the clarity. Also I slowed the drill press speed down to 1080 rpm. After polishing 6 glass rims, I would need to replace the sand paper. No biggie, paper doesn’t last forever when suffering that kind of abuse. ... show more

    • Hard barrel.
Be prepared to tighten bottom nut if it binds because it will loosen. Had another with padded barrel but is discontinued. This one is okay but not great.

    • Fair, but hard to load
The tool itself is fine, it won't break or anything. It is very difficult to load and get the sandpaper on correctly. I only needed it to sand a few parts and I'll likely not use it again. If you are going to be using this a lot, find something different.

Easily sands down hardest wood’s allowing me to rough out walking sticks and canes prior to starting detailing. Great tool for any wood-shop.

Slick design to allow using std sandpaper of various grits. A little tedious to change grits but for the money, a good value.

    • Repurpose your sanding belts
I have a 25" wide drum sander the uses a long belt of sanding "paper". Sometimes when most of it is worn out I change the belt but there is always part that is not so worn out that it can't be used on this 2" x 3" O'SKOOL sleeveless drum. It should pay for itself in no time.

    • Works well, but hard to load
Works well as a small drum sander. I like the option of being able to use my own sandpaper, but loading and unloading the sandpaper is not as easy as I had hoped, and the instructions are not very clear. Quite frustrating taking it apart if the paper doesn't load correctly the first time.
