I have multilple 20/60 volt batteries so, when my 40+ year old corded Craftsman belt sander died, this seemed like a logical way to go. I'm glad I got it. It has lots of power, is super easy to load belts and adjust tracking and it is a pleasure to be uncorded. Any uncorded tool will get a lot more use due to the convenience. Others have truthfully noted that it uses up battery charges quickly, running for around 30-40 continuous minutes. I needed something lightweight and portable for taking to the job site. No plugging in or fooling with a cord. This sander is very convenient for what I do when installing cabinets and laminate countertops. I don't need a lot of run time so the 5ah battery is sufficient. I wouldn't use it for large surface areas because small sanders like this tend to be tippy and can cause damage if not held flat to surface. As far as the build of this sander I am satisfied. Very high quality sander that is surprisingly quiet (for a sander) and does an amazing job at capturing dust. However, it kills the standard dewalt 20 volt batteries that came with my other dewalt power tools within 5-10 minutes of use. You will need to order a couple of much bigger, 5amp batteries to make this useful so tack on another $100 or so to your total purchase price. ... show more

I do trim carpentry for a living, so far pretty good, it's a little under powered compared to a corded model but so handy not to string out cord that catches on everything under the sun, standard controls with variable speed trigger.

I purchased this tool recently for a project. The tool is very underpowered. Just the weight of the tool on the board you are trying to sand causes the tool to bog down. As a couple others here have stated the battery life is terrible and the tool only lasts for 5-10 minutes. I utilized dust extraction, but still material quickly stuck to one edge of the belt and it deeply scratched the board. I think this tool is unusable. This unit is a tad heavy, but it does the job well. Very easy to load the belt and use. So much nicer than having a cord to maneuver around. This thing is well built and well worth the price. Uses 3x21 Belts
