Even though it was already seasons to a nice charcoal grey, I made it almost pitch black. I like a nice rich black color on my cast iron. This wock took it like a champ and is a great buy. Quality handles that are poured into the mold, rather then attached. The base is nice and level and the interior cooking surface is just about perfect for holding slow cook items like veggies to teh side while the meat or other items cook in the heat well. I haven't had a chance to spend that much time in the kitchen yet but this wok is perfect for making quick hot meals, it's a great size and weight, and the wooden lid is a great addition. It feels like a a very earth-friendly, healthy-cooking product that will last me for years. It looks so nice that I'm keeping it on the cooking plate as decor when not in use. This wok is a heavy sturdy item. The handles are part of the main body of cast iron - they are not separate pieces. The bottom of the wok is formed into a solid flat area that keeps the unit stable and transfers heat uniformly to the rest of the wok. The wok was advertised as seasoned and non-stick, but my wife had to oil and bake it a couple times to season it properly. She has used it a couple times with no complaints. ... show more
