Took 10-15 min to heat up. Then 15-20min to heat the marshmallow. I just got it turned on first then gathered the supplies. 5 minutes later it was ready. Never timed how long it takes to cook one over an open fire but it didn’t feel as tho it took any longer. It absolutely takes longer to build a fire or start a grill and wait to cook them, was so easy. The temps outside were 12F and I am always cold so this was a life saver. I didn’t use the trays. My 11yo used this during a sleepover and I asked her to rate it, they thought it was fun and had no complaints. The coil got red and heated up pretty fast, and got the marshmallows as cooked as they wanted them. The metal grate got discolored (black) from the heat, and despite soaking it, it wouldn't come off. Bought this as a gift for my nieces and they loved! It’s super cute and small, it does take a bit to warm up and def for the s’mores to be ready. The cord is also a bit short so I recommend being close to outlet or an extension cord.

I have enjoyed every single toasted marshmallow I’ve toasted with this. It seems to take a few minutes to heat up enough to get a good rhythm going, I don’t even add the chocolate or graham cracker. The marshmallow is the star of the s’more anyway…keep in mind, has no automatic shut off whatsoever, whether you forget or it gets knocked off the table somehow..:it does have an on off switch on the side of the device. ... show more

I bought this for some friends, and they found out quickly, thanks to their 12 yo son, the marshmallows definitely CAN catch fire without direct contact to the coil, and marshmallow can also drip inside. This being said, it was very easy to clean once it cooled, and for those of us who like our marshmallows burnt? 👍 We found that the marshmallows melted fairly quickly. Odd title I know.. 😂 Gave it to my son for Christmas and he screamed SMORES!!! Put it together quickly the very next morning and had an unhealthy breakfast of s’mores. Easy to use and easy to clean; minus the marshmallows and how kids can get them everywhere. Definitely a good buy and a great gift.

If you try to heat more than one, each from different angles, they take a long time to heat and brown.
