I've used this almost nonstop over a year now and drying the last of this year herbs, peppers and green beans. I make my green powder from greens I grow. After gifting quite a lot of herbs and seasonings my cleaning gals and 2 neighbors also have this dehydrator. They also love theirs.

Perfect size dehydrator. 7 trays are decent size. I can fit 4 pounds of meat easily on 6 trays with a little room to spare on 2 of the trays. So it’ll fit 5 pounds for sure using the 7th tray. So much easier than the old school tower dehydrator. The fan is quiet and everything is easy to operate. It comes with 2 plastic jerky trays. Would be awesome if it came with 7 (one for each tray). Wouldn’t recommend putting stuff directly on the wire racks. But you can buy food grade silicon mats for it which are inexpensive. I bought the mats, and clean up is a breeze. Set the temp and time and pretty much forget about it. I turn my trays at halfway, but you honestly don’t need to. It evenly distributed the heat. Using the old tower dehydrator, I always had to rotate my trays from bottom to top and etc every few hours. This dehydrator makes everything simple and easy. I’ve used it a handful of times now. Started off with just one pound of meat to understand it. And now doing 4-5 pounds of meat at a time. Comes with a recipe book, which is a good reference with temps and times for a lot of stuff if you’ve never used a dehydrator. It makes it easy to just open the book and figure out what temp for what ever you are trying to make. I’m happy you can set a certain temp for a certain time and not have to constantly check on your stuff. Used a tower dehydrator for years just bc that’s how I was raised. But so glad I got this. Made my life so much easier. I no longer have to constantly check to make sure everything is getting dehydrated properly, and constantly check my tower trays. Would recommend to anyone that would like to start dehydrating things, as well as to people that have been dehydrating for years using a tower tray system. This dehydrator is worth it to me and I’ll continue to use it for as long as I can. ... show more

I bought this dehydrator so I can make my own jerky chips. I am tired of spending $25 per bag on hot Cheeto jerky sold by a local business. I found out that it is very easy and inexpensive to make. I have already spent over $200 on that jerky, and I should have saved my money and bought this dehydrator earlier. Based on the reviews, it looks like the build quality of this thing is great. I bought a protection plan just in case, but I hope it doesn't break down on me. While I am writing this review, I am actually drying some jerky, and right now, our house smells like jerky. I was surprised that it looks much smaller in person compared to the pictures online, which is something I really like, so I can easily store it after I use it. I will update this review after I finish dehydrating my first batch and see how it goes. One more thing, I did not realize that the maximum temperature of this unit is only 165°F. I hope that I will not have a recipe that requires more than 165°F in the future. ... show more

    • Very pleased and amazed & super quiet
I didn’t know what to expect from this dehydrator. I had been using the dehydrator setting on my convection oven for jerkey etc. I am amazed at the difference of an actual dehydrator vs my oven setting: Magic Mill dehydrates much quicker and I don’t need to cut things into such small pieces. I think the main reason is that the fan in Magic Mill is really big so it has much more air movement and that is the key. I have the black plastic 7 shelf model and it is sufficiently big enough. The 10 shelf would be too much for me and costs a lot more money. I usually only need 5 shelves. The plastic is sturdy and definitely not cheap, which is what I was concerned about. I am super happy with this dehydrator. I have never used the cheaper plastic dehydrators but would think that this one is probably much better quality overall, and will last longer, since it costs more money. Lastly it is super quiet, just a gentle white noise. ... show more

This thing is great. I make lots of dried fruit for my kid to eat so I know he isn't eating any preservatives. My husband has made jerky with it a few times. It's easy to clean and the metal trays are nice and durable and fit in my small dishwasher. The temp control is pretty easy to use, but it is extremely loud. The timer is loud and you can't turn off the alarm when the timer is up. I mean, it can be heard through my entire house. Even just changing the temp or adjusting the timer makes a screaming sound when you push the buttons. Other than that it works really well. I don't have to rotate the trays, which is a huge plus. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family! ... show more

I had a cheap Nesco, but used it to death. This was a great value for what you get. I love that I can set time and temp. I can use all 7 trays or just a few. It works great for herbs, tomatoes, fruit and so much more. I even dried homemade soap in it. I did order silicone mats to line the trays.     • SIMPLE TO USE AND QUIET
I don't normally review products but this dehydrator is simple to use, easy to clean, relatively quiet and like the fact it is easy to extend time if needed. I have used it for a variety of mostly vegetables and fruits. Very satisfied with the results. i used it for citrus rinds so they can be ground. Same for beets, garlic etc.. I eat an orange a day and save the rinds instead of tossing to dehydrate and grind up. The kale and swiss chard also came out great and have a good aroma. I don't use many leaves of the fresh at each use and have always found it to going bad before I can use it up. This way its great for use later and little waste. Since I make a lot of soup -dried bases take up a lot less room and are now available whenever i need. i have also done a lot of vacuum sealing for years and will find the dual use somethings to be done frequently.
