I bought this purple color last year around Christmas time and this is my 2nd time covering my gray and brightening 1 year old violet highlights. It was right before New Years eve when I applied the 1st time and I really did not need a touch up until Easter time. I shampoo almost daily because I work out every day and suffer from terrible hot flashes!! I have applied it to both wet and dry hair, mixing it with a little bit of conditioner to help it lighten and spread. I leave it on my hair for 20-30 minutes, wrapping my head in plastic wrap. I realize this may not be necessary but it keeps me and my house clean while I go about doing other stuff - lol. Remember to apply vasoline to skin that you don't want stained, use gloves and maybe a disposable plate or cup to portion out what you will need for your hair. I will get at least 1 more use out of the jar so it is a great deal also! They included a really rad sticker thanking me for their business and letting me know that is is a woman indie brand - LOVE IT!!! Totally will buy again! ... show more

I've purchased this twice now. I really love the color blue velvet. I've gotten several compliments even if it has faded a bit. One downside is that it does stain pretty badly. Everything about this dye is great, I just wish it would last longer! I will say though, it seems like it doesn't fade as fast as other brands of hair dye. Absolutely love this red! Pros and cons to every hair color... so best way to get the color to pop is bleach your hair first... this is me like 2months after i dyed it!!! So the lunar is a new fav... but it just doesnt like dark hair... another pro is i can even take hot showers!!! (And for those that are pros at the dyein world) know thats not normal...lol ... show more

Let me start off with: I really really wanted to like this. The reviews I did read seemed good, so I decided to take a chance on it. My entire process is over 3 days: Day 1 = application/rinse, Day 3 = wash. Pros: * Very nice texture and smelled decent (not chemically like some boxed dyes). * Easy to apply and looked nice in my hair right after (Disclaimer: I covered over brown hair for a blue-black effect) Cons: * This thing bleeds and stains. Like a lot. * My first rinse out never actually rinsed to clear, despite trying for at least 10 minutes (maybe more, I lost count). It looked a lot like a blue Kool-Aid Jammer when I finally had to call it quits with the rinsing. My poor tub looked like I tried to fight a Smurf though. Thank gods I wore gloves throughout the entire process (dying and rinsing). * I then let it dry and it looked really nice. However, it bled on a lot of stuff, my fingers looked like I was permanently frostbitten, and my neck kept getting stained when I'd sleep. (Luckily my pillowcase is black, unfortunately my CPAP headgear isn't...) * When I finally got to do my first post-dye shower it, no joke, took at least 4 shampooing attempts before the blue finally stopped running AND it stained the tub all over again. I'm giving this 3 stars because I will give it the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe, just maybe, there was some kind of user error on my part, however, I don't think I'll be getting this brand again to find out. My hair is still a cooler-shade of black but it doesn't feel like there's all that much blue tinting it after that (necessary) intense wash. I unfortunately can't vouch for how long it would stay in blonde/lightened hair. ... show more

A quick color refresh. I just allow my colors to fade out and refresh with anew color here or there. And this color did not disappoint at all. I wish I had a better picture as I brushed it from roots to half way down and blended for an ombré. Worked beautifully and it has faded beautifully. I loved the color, the smell was actually pretty nice and it was very easy to use. But it fades out really fast. Don't get me wrong the colors it fades to are pretty and if it weren't for that it would be a full 5 stars. In comparison with Punky Color it lasts much longer and does not fade as fast.

I love lunar tides. I've purchased through Amazon and directly from them. Blue velvet did turn out more like cerulean sea because my very dark hair, pre lightened but not toned, was yellow/brassy. Which makes sense. Blue and yellow= green. Even the "mishap" was gorgeous. I wash about 4 times a week and, after a month, it had faded to a more pine green but still gorgeous and vibrant. I've used several colors and love them all. I applied cerulean sea on the faded blue velvet turned teal and its still gorgeous. This will be my color moving forward. It does bleed and stain my shower. But, I simply spray with clorox cleaner after my shower. No scrubbing needed. ... show more

First: I opened the plastic seal and span the lid, there was product leaked out. Second: I was aiming for a silver/lilac color, this seemed like it would be perfect. Spent days reading my hair to a level 10. Toned out copper and yellow. Waited a day, then applied the Lunar White. I left it in for a bit longer then what it required but that seemed to do nothing. My roots for sure came out a beautiful lilac, but the rest of my hair looks frosty/ash blonde. I'm really disappointed and I don't know if I can even fix it without having to go back and bleach my hair. Bought a green as well in case this went south, but I'm not gonna give up yet. However, I won't buy Lunar white from this company again. *Edit - After talking with customer service, I was told this was a semi-permanent toner. Which had I known that, would not have bought it. Maybe that was my mistake. I’m new to trying to do pastel colors and thought this was a dye, not a semi-toner. However, I believe it should have been stated as a toner. For anyone looking at this, know that it’s a toner and don’t make the same mistake I did. Customer support resolved the issue and I have updated my rating based on their support team. ... show more
