  • YOUR GO-TO DUTCH OVEN: A flawless pairing of form and function that doesn't quit. The Lodge Dutch Oven not only makes your kitchen look good but is an enameled cast iron classic great for preparing and serving memorable meals. Broil, braise, bake or roast your favorite meals in the oven up to 500 Degree F.
  • WHAT IS PORCELAIN ENAMEL ON CAST IRON. It is glass that becomes bonded to the cast iron at high temperatures. A particulate of glass, called frit, is applied to the cast iron vessel and then baked at temperatures between 1200 and 1400 F. The glass frit melts and fuses to the cast iron, forming a bond. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is heat tolerant and impervious to water and other consumables.
  • EASY TO COOK AND CLEAN: The porcelain enameled interior has a smooth finish that minimizes sticking, promotes caramelization and resists staining. Although enameled cast iron is dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon scrub brush is recommended to keep your Dutch Oven in tip top shape
  • HEAT RETENTION: The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating throughout both the bottom and sidewalls. The tightly fitting lid seals in moisture for scrumptious pot roast, stews or a large batch of beans. Our heat retention also reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking.
  • FAMILY-OWNED. Lodge is more than just a business; its a family. The Lodge family founded the company in 1896, and they still own it today. From environmental responsibility to community development, their heads and hearts are rooted in America. Products made with non-toxic, PFOA & PTFE free material.
  • 6-quart Dutch oven made of cast iron with chip-resistant porcelain-enamel finish
  • Cast-iron loop side handles for a safe, secure grip when transporting
  • Cover with handle traps in heat, moisture, and nutrients
  • Hand wash; wood or silicone utensils recommended; oven-safe to 500 degrees F
  • Measures 10-3/4 inches in diameter by 4-1/2 inches deep; limited lifetime warranty

Description

Add a colorful splash to your cooking collection with this Lodge EC6D33 6 qt. Caribbean blue enameled cast iron dutch oven, as you combine the benefits of cast iron with the beauty of porcelain enamel. Creating cookware since 1896, Lodge has a rich history of an unparalleled dedication to quality and technology. This particular piece is perfect for making soups, stews, casseroles, and cobblers with superior heat retention and even heating. The vibrant enamel surface is resistant to acidic and alkaline foods. This Dutch oven is right at home on induction, ceramic, electric, and gas cooktops, even in your oven up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, this oven can handle colder temperatures for marinating or refrigerating foods. Like traditional cast iron cookware, porcelain enameled cookware starts out being cast in the traditional method. However, after this process, a glass particulate called "frit" is applied and the cookware is baked in ovens between 1200 and 1400 degrees Fahrenheit. This process transforms the frit into a smooth porcelain surface that is bonded to the iron. There is no exposed cast iron on the finished product, the black cooking surface and rims are transformed into matte porcelain. This Dutch oven features a vibrant Caribbean blue exterior and a glossy white interior. Overall Dimensions: Length: 13 1/2" Width: 10 3/4" Height: 7 1/4" Weight: 16 lb. Capacity: 6 qt.1 Lodge Color is one of the newest lines from this respected American cast-iron cookware company. Traditionally shaped and more affordable than some European brands, Lodge Color enameled cast-iron is just as durable, requires no seasoning, and attractively serves at the table. Lodge infuses this 6-quart Dutch oven with two coats of hard-as-nails porcelain enamel, in a choice of several bright colors that are gradated (dark to light) on the exterior, and which are nicely set off by a cream interior. Embellished with concentric circles and a black knob, the lid, which also fits the Lodge Color 11-inch skillet, is oven-safe to 400 degrees F, so you can start a stew or casserole on the stovetop and finish by baking it in the oven. The 6-quart Dutch oven measures 10-3/4 inches in diameter by 4-1/2 inches deep. Lodge enameled cast iron makes a smart choice due to its versatility--you can marinate raw meats in it, since it won't absorb odors or flavors, and you can braise, saute, simmer, and bake in it as well. Made in China to Lodge's meticulous specifications, each cookware item is first clad in matte black enamel before the color is added. The black rim that shows on the oven is actually the scratch-resistant matte enamel, not the raw cast iron. Though the Dutch oven is dishwasher-safe, washing by hand is recommended to best preserve the glossy finish. Look also for the pricier Lodge Enamel series, with its unique L-shaped lid knob, in a different set of colors and sizes to suit any kitchen. All Lodge enameled ware is covered by a lifetime warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

  • Beautiful, defect free Dutch oven at a great price!
Color: Island Spice Red
The 6 quart pot and lid showed up well packaged with zero defects and the Island Spice Red color is beautiful! Like one reviewer noted, the rim of the oven and the bottom rim of the lid doesn't have enamel, so I'll be sure and season/oil those very small areas and store with the lid protectors. I made chili in it cooking for several hours, and it performed perfectly with no hot spots, easy cleaning, etc. So far, I absolutely love this Dutch oven! ... show more

  • Lodge Quality Shines Through
Color: Burnt Sienna
I purchased this Dutch oven when it was on sale as I've been wanting an enameled piece of cast iron for a while. The price was almost 50% when I bought it. It arrived as expected and was securely packaged. The color of the piece is consistent and solid throughout. My first meal prepared in it was a chicken in salsa verde dish. It was a one pot meal as I first browned the chicken breasts and then brought together the remaining ingredients on the range top before reintroducing the chicken to the oven and placing it all in the oven for 30 minutes. The Dutch oven performed as intended heating evenly and retaining warmth after removal from the oven. We weren't quite ready to eat when cooking time was complete and the meal remained nicely heated. This piece would also have been quite attractive to have moved to a dining table for serving if we had guests. Cleanup was very easy. The rubber "clips" that keep the lid above the rim of the oven when stored is a small matter but an appreciated one as it replaces any need to store a paper towel hanging out to wick moisture away form the inside during storage. All in all, this has been a very good addition to my cast iron collection. ... show more

  • Great Dutch oven and a great value!
Color: Island Spice Red
Sure, I would own the over-priced brand that begins with an L if I was a millionaire, but I’m not. This I a beautiful alternative. Even heating and cooking. Plus easy clean up. I’ll be getting more pieces in the future.

  • Love it
Good sturdy enameled cast iron. I’ve used this Dutch oven at least 20 times since purchasing. Lamb shanks, chilli slow roasted shredded beef etc. This pot works great and is very sturdy. It’s thick and heavy and has a nice outer coating. I got the red one and it looks just like the images. I would say to try to clean this as soon as possible to prevent staining but it’s going to happen regardless. Overall, it’s been great to cook with and looks good too. ... show more

  • Fabulous
Color: Oyster White
This is a gorgeous pot at an affordable price. I’m glad I bought it. Much larger than my other cast iron pots. It’s heavy and has a substantial enamel coat. With even heat distribution I think it will cook things nicely. A+ for this one.

  • a bargain
Color: Island Spice Red
I’ve been on the fence for years about a dutch oven, mostly because of the expense. I couldn’t justify spending a couple hundred bucks on one. This dutch oven is very reasonably priced and is nice and heavy. It arrived nicely packaged and without any blemishes. It’s super convenient to use- it’ll go from the stovetop to the oven and back without a problem. My only regret is that I didn’t buy this sooner. ... show more

  • Heavy, but worth it!
Color: Blue
This cast iron dutch oven is wonderful. I've always been hesitant to purchase anything cast iron due to the maintenance, but this dutch oven doesn't take much. I purchased it initially because I'm in my #sourdoughera but have since used it for soups & other dishes. It's heavy (cause it's expensive, put it back) but it cooks evenly and the final product does not disappoint. Clean up is a breeze, although be prepared for some stains to remain. Anyone whose ever owned anything cast iron will tell you, that residue adds "flavor". The blue color matches my country kitchen. Would recommend. It takes a lot to get 5 stars from this reviewer, I give it 4 stars. ... show more

  • I LOVE this!
Color: Indigo
I've always wanted a Dutch Oven and I've been cooking for myself and/or family for over 50 years! I finally decided I was going to get one and read a lot of reviews for different brands. Knowing that Lodge was a leader in cast iron, I decided on this one. I don't like uncoated cast iron, but with the enameling on this one I figured it would be OK. The Dutch Oven arrived in perfect condition, no chips or problems of any kind. I've used it multiple times now and it does a fantastic job on the top of my gas stove and goes right into the oven, cleans up with ease - I couldn't be happier! Two things, it IS heavy particularly when full of food and I did keep the little rubber spacers to place back on the edge of the pot then put the lid on (upside-down, takes up less room) for storage. This avoids any possible future chips I think. If you can manage the weight, this is a wonderful addition to the kitchen. ... show more
