  • Yes its expensive
Color: Flame
Le Creuset is expensive. Is it over priced? Maybe, but it has a finish that cleans up better than of my other ceramic coated cast iron. The hours I don't spend soaking and scrubbing is worth something, as is the lifetime I expect to get out of this roaster. I chose to make the leap into some Le Creuset products, and targeted 3 pots/pans: A large dutch oven (9 Quart - which I purchased directly from their outlet store), a large Braiser (5 quart - which I purchased here) and a roaster (this one)... okay I then bought the 7 quart roaster from a clearance rack at a store because I couldn't pass up the price, but 3 was my intention. I have not noticed any hot spot issues in any of the above products. They all seem to heat evenly. Wonderful quality for stove top to oven and back again. Did I mention clean up. After each long slow roast, I look at the caked on fond and think "I don't want to clean it - this time it won't be easy, but it always is. A little hot water and soap in the pan for a few minutes while I do other dishes and it basically wipes out clean. I have a lodge dutch oven, which I also love, but it doesn't clean up as easily and the discoloring of the ceramic definitely looks like its been used often. I guess my rational (which could be faulty but its how I sleep) - isn't a cooking implement that lasts a lifetime worth the cost of 4 meals (at the cost of roasts today) you make in it? ... show more

  • Awesome
Color: Cerise
If you are going to buy Le Creuset, then buy the enameled cast iron. These pieces are amazing- beautiful, cook evenly, easy to clean, very heavy and durable. I've dropped this in the sink and it's survived very well.

  • Excellent tool for easy execution
Color: Cerise
I keep getting these Le Creuset pots and pans mixed up when I write the reviews. They are all so good and convenient for me. So this one is the Cast Iron Rectangular roasting and baking pan. It's heavy, unlike the ones that I have that aren't heavy because they aren't cast iron. This one is more versatile as it is cast iron. I don't have to worry about roasting and even cooking on the stove top as in making gravy from the residue (font) in the pan. Do I love it? Yes. The thing that I enjoy: I have more time to cook and a better budget. So my tools can be top of the line and therefore are an excellent value so that whatever I do is easier to execute. I love to roast meats and poultry. I am comfortable and confident with this pan. I had one of those big roasters for large birds and big roasts but I don't need those anymore. There's just two of us and maybe company. This is big enough. My favorite dish so far is a chicken dish that I was supposed to grill but it was snowing. I still wanted to make it ... Pati Jinich Chipotle Agave Chicken Wings that I now make in the oven and not just for chicken wings. What a wonderful success the recipe is and the pan goes straight from oven to table. ... show more

  • love le creuset
Color: Flame
Picked up this piece as a gift, was super disappointed to find out it was gray (oyster) instead of orange (flame) as I had ordered. It's too late to send it back now and the recipient is luckily OK with the color. But come on..

  • Value for money
Color: Cerise
I had doubts about the roaster making it in one piece and that there won't be issues with chips and nicks! but my concerns were unfounded as the roaster arrived well packaged and flawless. If you like cooking the roaster is a good addition to the set I have because of its larger size and shallow depth. I which they made a lid for it as the stonewear model is too fragile. ... show more

  • Excellent
Color: Cerise
Nice pan. I've been cooking in it for the past couple of days, and it has been doing an excellent job. It is sturdy and holds heat well. It is easy enough to cover with foil or parchment paper if you are trying to keep moisture in. I would note that it isn't quite as large as it looks. Not a problem in my case, but I can see people being surprised. If you are cooking for a couple people, it is great. For instance, It has enough room to lay out a package of four big chicken breasts without them touching. If you want to cook more than that at a time, you should probably look towards the 7 qt version. I would add that the size makes it easier to clean. When diagonal, there is just enough room to fit it flat in your average sink. A larger roaster is going to require more fumbling around to clean well. ... show more

  • Great product but a little pricey.
Color: Cerise
Great product but a little pricey. The description shows outside dimensions which is not helpful. I measured mine and here are the dimensions from inside but at the very top 13 X 9.75 X 2.8. The sides taper down inward slightly so the dimensions from inside at the very bottom are 12 X 8.875 X 2.8.

  • Le Creuset Quality
Color: Meringue
This roaster is made in France, and shows the high quality used in their manufacturing process. Lots of the stoneware from Le Creuset is now made in China, and the difference can be discerned using this product. Higher price, but worth the expenditure. Highly recommend!
