I've encountered this lamp a long time ago. Perhaps more than 10 years ago when I first visited one of my friends film editing facility. It was beautifully lit and had interesting lava going up and down. During that era, this lamp used to cost more that a hundred dollars. I was not going to buy a lamp for that money. A few weeks ago, I've found this on Amazon. The price was a steal. I ended up buying not one but four of them. All the lamps are working great and are creating beautiful mood in my rooms. Pros: Great price. Great quality. Great mood. Cons: Not really a cons but a caution not to shake or roll the lamp during transport. Once it's shaked or rolled causing bubbles within the lava oil, it is going to be very hard to get it back to original state. I didn't know and had one of the lamp - comes is a cylinderical container, left in my trunk. It's been rolled around and the bubbles formed within the lava oil making it look somewhat weird. ... show more

I surprised my 7 y/o niece with this pink/purple lamp for Christmas. We have an agreement that she can get one gift spoiler before the big day, and she coaxed this one out of me. When I told her, she was at a loss for what it actually was and proceeded to ask Alexa. Lol! Because Alexa gave the history of lava lamps and not much by way of a visual, her mouth dropped open when she received this gift and plugged it in! This was truly a great gift for a pink enthusiast. She feared that it didn't work at first, but be forewarned that it takes hours to heat and get going. This lamp is now her on her desk and acts as a night light. Just be sure to shut this off after your child falls asleep because the lamp can get very hot. ... show more

    • Blast from the past!
My daughter decided that she wanted a lava lamp for her 9th birthday - she saw that one of her classmates has one while they were having a "Zoom" school-day class (Coronavirus social distancing times!) and thought it was super cool. I picked this one based on the reviews and the price, and she loves pink and purple so the colors were perfect. It was packaged well, arrived intact, and works great! Yes, it does take a WHILE to get that lava going, but that's what happens with any lava lamp - the lava is wax and has to heat up to a "liquid" state, and it's just a small incandescent bulb in the base of the lamp that provides that heat, so of course it doesn't start up right away. But once it gets going... wow. When I was a super cool teen in the early 90s, groovy 60s and 70s stuff came back into pop-culture popularity, and I sooooo wanted a lava lamp but never got one (no one-click online shopping back in 1993! :) ) so now I sit with my kiddo and watch hers and oooh and aaahhhh over how cool it is. Maybe I'll just have to order one for myself!!! So: great price, great product, LOTS of fun!! ... show more

I bought two of these, one for myself and one for my boyfriend. Great product for the price. The colors are true to the picture. I am happy with my purchase. The lights work very well once they have heated up and they are fun to watch. Sadly, the bulb in mine burned out soon after I got it and I had to buy a replacement. My only concern about them is they do get really hot! So, just be careful where you put them and enjoy! ... show more

So we bought this for our little one to help her fall asleep. At first it worked like a charm! But then two weeks in it stopped working. We’d turn it on three hours before we’d put her to bed and when did she watch the lava go up and down until she fell asleep. This lava was a ace in the hole for this. It calmed her, she stared at lava, and quietly and calmly she would fall asleep. Example is the first picture. Well two weeks after the purchase it stopped working. The lava just clumped together at the top of the bottle and even many hours after it wouldn’t start working. Example is the second picture. We even got a Belkin WeMo switch that I used to automate the turn on and off of the lava lamp. I’d have it start up around 7:00 pm and have it shut off around 4:00 am. So I just don’t know why it stopped working. We had many lava lamps in the past and this is the first this has happened with. Doing a exchange for another one and hopefully that one will work. Will modify the review if it ends up working. There’s always the chance that this one was just a bad one. ... show more

It’s super cute! Our 11-year-old daughter wanted a lava lamp for Christmas and I stumbled upon this in my search for one. It wasn’t too big (or too little!) and the color was PERFECT!! Pink “lava” and purple “liquid” helped make this choice a ‘no brainer!’ She loves it and it’s a great addition to her “pre-teen” room! I’m happy with the color, the size, and its performance! It does tend to run “hot” if left on too long, so we’re sure to turn it off when we leave the room/house. We’ve had it since Christmas and it’s done very well since! I bought this for a 60's themed party as part of my decor. The colors were true to description and photos. I bought the purple liquid with pink/red wax. After reading several negative reviews on this lamp, I was a bit unsure as to whether to purchase or not. I decided to go for it anyway, and was happy I did. I plugged it in after reading all instructions. It warmed up and began to work as it should within four-five hours. I left it plugged in for a couple of days and it performed beautifully. I unplugged and let it cool for a day and then plugged it in again the morning of the party to make sure it had plenty of time to get back in "the groove".
