Description

The High Court of the Coffee Bean returns with a sassy, wicked streak. Months after the deadly assassins-turned-baristas left the Four Corners of Ever behind for good, Doom comes knocking at Mor Trisencor's door. And it's wearing stilettos. When the Fairy Post gets an unexpected, grand following in the human realm for its vintage feel and whimsical words, Mor gets busier than ever typing out articles, following up on leads of fairy mischief, and everything else that goes along with being a faeborn reporter. But his heavy workload comes to a screeching halt when he spots someone in the human realm that shouldn't be there—an old foe of his. One he thought he would never see again. One he'd prayed to the sky deities that he wouldn't cross paths with after the day Mor abandoned the Shadow Army, leaving a trail of flames and destruction in his wake. For the first time since the Fairy Post was published, the newspaper gets put on hold and Mor goes hunting. Mor can think of nothing else but stopping this foe before ripples of doom begin to stir up the human realm. Violet Miller is a journalist with a mysterious past her amnesia forbids her from remembering. But when she gets let go from her job at the most prestigious news station in the city, her unexplained past becomes the least of her problems. She thinks it's all over for her as a journalist, until she sees a job posting for a secretary position at a niche, laughable "old school style" newspaper called the Fairy Post. The day Violet shows up at Mor's house—or, creepy, dark cathedral is more like it—is the day that everything changes for her. Before Violet even has a chance to ask about the job, she’s mistakenly marked as Mor’s lover by his “enemies” and she finds herself in the crosshairs of a battle of inhuman creatures who’d rather “stab first and ask questions later.” This marks the beginning of a love-hate relationship (mostly hate) between a fae assassin born of the Shadows, and a lipstick-wearing, mascara wielding human born to be in the spotlight. While reading this second installment of the High Court of the Coffee Bean series, you may find yourself craving macaroons, listening to the wind for signs of fairy magic, and wishing you had a “creepy, dark, creaking, abandoned cathedral” of your own to call home. • Absolutely Faetastic!
Of course, this was faetastic and absolutely unputdownable! With thrilling battle scenes, hilarious antics, and heartfelt moments, these fae assassins and their humans are unforgettable. You'll experience so many warm fuzzy feelings while furrowing your eyebrows and shaking your head. From beginning to end, this will enthrall you. I think the world building rivals the dialogue, both are just sheer genius. We're given wonderful back stories in the second book, which paints even more darker shades to the vicious faerie realm. Enemies aren't just patiently waiting, no, they're lurking in the shadows bidding their time. I really do love this series. The fae are intriguing and haughty, but at the very same time, you find that you've fallen for them and are whole heartedly cheering them on. And the humans are so relatable and just so likable. The romance is sweet and utterly swoon-worthy! And even though this is about a certain couple, we still get pieces of all the characters interspersed throughout. Which makes my little reader heart soar. I'm super sad that this world only exists between these beloved pages because I'd definitely love to sip tea at Fae Cafe. ... show more

  • Delightful!
I really enjoyed reading the second installment in this series! I like watching each of the individual unique personalities unfold in fun, wacky circumstances. The writing does jump around quite a bit which I feel can be a bit jarring. Buts it’s still an incredibly fun story overall! I’d recommend this to any fans of cozy stories, dashes of romance, and/or handsome fae falling for human women! ... show more

  • Still fun
I still enjoy this series, but I found this book to be too long. The relationship dynamics and plot were still very unique, and I liked the addition of a new character. I look forward to the next book.

  • Court of the Coffee bean
Book two was just as good as book 2! We follow another one of the assassin brothers, Mor, and get to know more of his background and story. We follow Mor and a young girl who has a past with Fea named Violet Miller who wants to learn of her past she has forgotten. But some things forgotten are better left in the past. Besides being a battle for your life kind of book, these stories also have some great comedy. ... show more

  • Unfortunate Mudslide Cupcakes
I'm delighted to have enjoyed this second installment of the High Court of the Coffee Bean. I really love Mor's character so I fell right in to this fun story. The twists and turns are much more imaginative the the first book as well. I think it might be a patter for the author to have better second in a series books the the first. I also think that is a great problem to have. It shows growth in her stories. If you like a bit of mystery, a bit of clean romance, a healthy dash of shenanigans, and troublesome fae assassins, you will get a kick out of this book. ... show more

  • Magic, mischief, mayhem, mysteries, and Mor Trisencor
Never did I think that I would enjoy a fantasy romcom that has the humor and antics from a show like New Girl mixed with fantasy elements that you see in stories like The Cruel Prince, but here we are with a sequel that is the perfect companion to the first installment. Since this book focuses on two different main characters from the first book, it isn’t completely necessary to read the first but I think reading book one will definitely complete the picture of how the fairy brotherhood ended up in the human realm. The MMC, Mor Trisencor, has a fantastic name that rolls off the tongue and he passes the vibe check for a vampire prince of darkness…but he really just is a shadow fairy. Grumpy, aloof, introverted, and a man of few words are all qualities that tend to find intriguing in a character, especially when his fairy brotherhood all having different personalities but share a sense of ridiculousness, loyalty, and ruthlessness that unites them. Violet is a lovely FMC that is so wonderfully human. She’s bold at times and fearful in other times and I think it’s great to see a character that isn’t super courageous or strong all of the time/through the entire story. Their banter and comments about one another are some of my favorite things but I also enjoyed the addition of different fairy lore and mythological characters. There was some repetition that added to the length of the story and I felt like it could’ve had less of it, but the humor and overall fairy shenanigans had me laughing so much that I didn’t really mind it at all. It doesn’t take long to find the humor in this book at all. You may enjoy this book if you like: 🖊️ slow burn love story 🖊️ character backstories 🖊️ multiple points of view 🖊️ New Girl style humor 🖊️ Royal fairy antics/fish out of water scenarios 🖊️ Fairy lore and tricks 🖊️ battle sequences/fairy duels 🖊️ mysteries Super excited to read book 3 when it comes out. ... show more

  • Excellent book!
I pre ordered this book after reading the first of the series. The book arrived earlier than expected and cheaper than what was originally advertised. You definately need to check out this author. I am a christian who enjoys romance fantasy but not smut and thats exactly what she delivers. Clean romantasy that still has cool characters and the feels. Emphasis on the cozy vibes. This book is best read with a warm tea. Where the first book focuses on Cress and Kate, this book focuses on Mor and Violet. (The other characters are still present). We get a look at Mor's backstory who in my opinion seemed unsuspecting and plain at first but quickly became my favorite character in this series. Big "lonely cathedral and tea" and "found family" vibes. The sea dragons really meant a lot to me. I won't give away too much but yall need to support this new author. ... show more
