  • The Guitar Player's Perfect Guilty Pleasure Short Scale Bass!
Color: Weathered Black Size: Weathered Black Style: Guitar
Just my opinion, but this just might be the guitar player's perfect guilty pleasure short scale bass! With its remarkably short 28" scale, it's so comfortable, balanced, light & easy to play! Amazingly inexpensive. Flawless fit & finish (at least mine was right out of the box - and in a really gorgeous matte slightly textured weathered black finish w/all black hardware). Just one minor out of the box issue - slight buzzing, but only on the E string and only when fretting the E on the first fret. So, possibly the second fret needed/needs minor dressing - but that was more than I wanted to attempt, so instead I simply raised the E string a hair at the bridge and the buzz was instantly gone, with no effect on E string volume that I could detect. The pickups sound fine to me. A true little gem at a truly bargain price. (Note - the gig bag was not included - it was a separate purchase - but for the price what can you expect?!) ... show more

  • Great starter better than my squire
Color: Metallic Purple Size: Metallic Purple Style: Guitar
Recently bought a squire jazz 5 string for about twice the value this was and I was way more impressed by this than the squire. The squire had poorly done frets and all of the pots and the output jack were really noisy but this Ibanez was silent no noise I even preferred the action of the Ibanez. Great value. No sharp frets. Wicked light even for a four string. And overall felt solid compared to the squire. As an experienced player this was awesome to play. ... show more

  • The quality is amazing.
Color: Transparent Red Size: Transparent Red Style: Guitar
I'm in love with this bass. I found 4 reviewers on YT who said exactly the same thing, which is why I took a chance on the Ibanez Mikrobass. Professional instrument know-it-alls have said that short scale basses have a different tone than full scale (while making a face as if they smell a fart), and I was very curious about that, because... logic. After my own experimentation, I could detect no audible difference between my full scale Yamaha (BB350F/1997) and the Ibanez Mikrobass, both clean and on many amp and pedal settings... because, of course they both have the same gauge strings, are tuned to the same vibrational frequency and have virtually identical pickups, so... math. I love the feel of it, because the lighter body and neck, and perhaps the looser strings having more travel distance to sustain a note, allows the vibration of the strings to penetrate deeply into your hands and torso. For me, that really adds to the joy of playing. After a few days, I started to crave the feeling of it more and more. It goes without saying that the shorter, more narrow neck and looser strings makes it a lot more comfortable to play, for people with normal sized hands or smaller. If I were the seller, I would not be happy with those photos which leave you wondering about the body's finish. Well, let me tell you there is no hint of orange on my red body, just deep dark red, worthy of the blood god. And, through the clear coat, up close, you can see all of the wood grain detail, but at a distance, the dark specks give it a warm fuzz, that, how crazy is this, thematically suits this instrument in every way. The fuzz master, baby! Honestly, it's quite nice looking, IMO. Much better than I expected. And, the only imperfection I could detect was the volume knob sticks a little when turned all the way down, but I'm expecting it to wear in. In summation, it baffles me how this instrument, which has clearly had a ton of love poured into its design and quality control during assembly, can sell, new, for under $200. This is now my main instrument. I was not paid to say any of this. ... show more

  • Solid Bass
Color: Starlight Blue Size: Starlight Blue Style: Guitar
Good product at the price point. Body and neck seem well made, pickups give good output and sound quality. Frets reasonably dressed with no sharpness. Like the weight and ease of handling, much less of a workout than a full size P bass. Only negative are the strings - they are absolutely awful, feel sharp and noisy even for round wounds. Changing them out for D’addario flat wounds right away. Just to stress what other reviewers have said - although it is short scale this bass is not a toy, you can get good deep punchy tones just a lot easier on the hands and arms than a regular bass. ... show more

  • Great sound and easy to play
Color: Transparent Red Size: Transparent Red Style: Guitar
These basses are great. Really light weight and easy to use. The ergonomics are great. I put flat wounds on and the sound is up there with my p-bass. I have paused on playing for now but am going to get back on it.

  • GOOD
Color: Weathered Black Size: Weathered Black Style: Guitar
Good. Has to be set up for intonation and buzz. But good tone and playability.

  • Hard to beat for the money
Color: Transparent Red Size: Transparent Red Style: Guitar
Had long scale bass that was just too difficult to manage - got this bass as it’s more the size of a guitar. Changed out the strings for flat wounds, adjusted the action a bit, and was ready to go. The transparent red finish looks good. I use this to lay down bass tracks in a home studio, and it’s perfect for that. The pickups and pots are what you’d expect for a guitar in this price range, but work/sound just fine. The 5 stars are for the value for the money. ... show more
