  • Great but only for a few months
Size: 16.4ft
I’ve purchased a few times from this brand to decorate my living space with beautiful ambient lighting but unfortunately the most recent sets I ordered both stopped working after about 6-7 months of use. Ive tried replacing the batteries in the remote and switching the adapters but they flicker, occasionally turn on one random color like red or white and then they die again. They dont respond to any remote function. I reached out via email but got no response. Hoping to get a replacement before having to order from a different brand next ... show more

  • Stopped working after 8 months - REVISED
Size: 50ft
This was my original submission - The lights installed just fine and worked perfectly for about 7-8 months and then just went dead. I checked all the connections and when I unplugged and replugged in the power converter they came on for a minute or two but then went out again. I changed the battery in the controller, but that didn't work either. Pretty disappointing. But...it turns out that I had a bad GFCI outlet that caused the problem. Once the outlet was replaced the lights worked fine. Daybetter, to their credit, has great customer service and sent me a replacement at no charge (which I will now offer to pay for.) Hope this clears things up. ... show more

  • Whacky- TV remote messed it up
Size: 32.8ft
So I did a staircase with the light set. Worked great at first. TV is near the staircase and the remote for the TV would affect the lights and change the color. Blocked off the sensor but the lights then would not change color. So ordered another one. Put that along the staircase and it was fine but it's very delicate and touched it with the piece of furniture and then the lights would no longer change color or respond to the remote color changer. Okay. So ordered a third set but the third set does not respond at all. Only one strand is blinking and one strand would not come on at all. Using a voltage sensor it showed that power was going through both strips but neither remote since we had the old one, would turn on the light strips and make the color respond. Just one strip blinking. If you get it unravel it and plug it in right away to make sure the whole unit operates. Unfortunately I had it sitting in the box and it is just past the return date because putting it up through a stairwell is kind of a pain so I put it off. On the upside it comes in two rolls so there was 25 ft going into directions which worked perfect to go up each side of a set of stairs and light it up very well. Now have to get something else. It's supposed to have a warranty so... Will find out about that. ... show more

  • Very good lighting
Size: 32.8ft
They work wonderfully I've had them for a very long time now, I do wish I could reuse them in a different room some how, the colors are very bright and vibrant it doesn't get tangled up to easily and isn't hard to install the length was perfect for the room I set it up in and so far they have been very durable they don't fall off the walls at all. The wires could of come a bit more thicker ... show more

  • Not bad, but lacking
Size: 32.8ft
No warm white: The single biggest issue is that the white can't be adjusted. The remote has all sorts of buttons, some of which work if you play with it long enough to figure them out, but none let you make the white warmer. So, dim white (which isn't that dim) is harsh. Still ok for a TV bias light. Remote: It's infrared, which is nice. (I don't need an unknown company on my network when IR/RF tech is cheap and established.) The remote doesn't work very well. It can be finicky to get the receiver to respond. The buttons don't seem reliable. And it doesn't come with instructions to explain how to do things. Bright: The lights are plenty bright enough, but far apart. I can see the effect on the wall behind the TV. It'll be visible even in a diffuser channel. There really needs to be a measure of lumens or lux somewhere in the description (per LED, meter, roll, whatever). Sticking: The adhesive seems to hold. If it's somewhere that gets hot it probably won't hold, but that's what adhesive does. Smooth it down carefully with your nail or something to make sure you get maximum direct contact. After a couple of days, I had to smooth mine down again in a couple of spots, but it seems to be holding well, especially where I kept it tight while installing it. Placing the strip and pulling the backing out while holding it in place worked well. (If yours is falling, adding fresh double-sided tape might help, or Command light hooks.) Smell: It's only fair to mention there's an unpleasant smell. It wasn't too strong and seems to have faded over a week or so. I did need to wash my hands several times after applying the strips, though. Connecting: You're supposed to make any cuts on the copper marks that occur every 5 inches or so, which makes planning for stuff like a TV awkward since you're limited by the strip, not the TV. (The cuts may force you to put the tape 3" from the sides instead of where you wanted it, or you might find it off-center because of a planning mistake.) More importantly, it doesn't come with connectors, like for putting it square on a TV. (The L-shaped ones will highlight this spacing issue, where the wire-type ones will let you start the next side where you want it. This kit needs 4-pin 10mm, 12V connectors, FYI.) Two Strips: On the subject of connecting. There are two strips and two places to plug them into the controller, so both need to star at the same place. There are conflicting reports on how far you can chain them with connectors, but the company seems to advise against extending them. Buying a second power supply/controller will cost you more than another kit. Power Loss: One last thing, the system seems to have a memory. I set the color and brightness and killed the power via powerstrip. When I turned the strip back on a few seconds later it was on and had the same brightness, etc. I may take advantage of that for areas where a remote, much less one with 44 buttons) is a dumb idea. TLDR: It seems solid as these things go and a competitive price. I want a strip for the closet, but the remote is more trouble than help and there's no warm white setting. I'll still be looking at Daybetter strips first, but without knowing the lumens it's a gamble. (Amazon's not nice about returns for incomplete descriptions, especially with third party sellers.) ... show more
