The unit comes with a small book of use instructions, Hawkins advertisements and recipes for Indian dishes - in English and, I believe in Hindi. That is charming. The cooker is cute but the walls are thin - leaving me uncertain about its safety under pressure - and, finally, is aluminum, about which there are some toxicity concerns. I had these further specific issues: First, I purchased this cooker because I am preparing more whole grains now, and cooking a cup of wild rice or barley didn't warrant my using my 8 quart TFal pressure cooker. BUT when I use the TFal, a grain which would cook per instructions for 45 minutes can be prepared in about 20 minutes. Using the small Hawkins cooker, the same grain took over 30 minutes to cook. It seems not terribly efficient as a pressure cooker. Second, although the cooker handle appears from the photograph to be encased in a thermoplastic insulator, the insulator does not wrap entirely around the handle of the lid - the bottom is the same piece of metal which joins to the center of the lid. And one must support the handle of the lid from the bottom when lifting the lid from the pot. That can provide an unwelcome surprise, and a burn - unless you use a pot holder. Third, it seems that parts and service (should they ever be needed) are available only in India. Fourth, the instructions state that the warranty is contingent upon submitting an enclosed post card registering your purchase - and such a card was not enclosed in my carefully packaged unit. Even with registration, because it cannot be worth the shipping to send the pot for service to India, the warranty seems to be worthless in the US. (I welcome comments from Hawkins correcting the 3rd and 4th points if I am in error.) ... show more

Very happy to find this on Amazon at an affordable price. The cooker didn't look as new as an in-store purchase (a few minor scratches on the lid) but everything worked wonderfully and its super easy and fast to clean. Have been using it for a few months now. Absolutely in love with this cooker!!

As born in India we used lots of pressure cooker n Howkins is one of a good brand. Have no problem using it. It came very small scratch outside but inside is not so I don't mind. N I used it n it's working properly.

I did not expect to find Hawkins in US local markets hence I had to order it online. It was delivered fast and well packaged. It works just fine and it is a great product when you need to cook for 1-2 people. Cooking and cleaning is easy too.
