Idk why everyone’s reviews say the cheese spills out over the edges and onto the counter. It doesn’t. Just put enough to center the cheese in the middle of the slice of bread. Works perfectly someone said they let their child use this. I wouldn’t. The top gets hot use a dish towel to close it.

Best thing I got for summer break. Now we have always snacks with us and we don’t need to do any stop for McDonald’s or some pizza restaurant. I make my own sandwiches to go and kiddos are loving it 😍

I got this from my sister for my Bday, loved it so much I got her one for hers, she then got one for her son! Makes EXCELLENT grilled cheese, and SO MUCH MORE! ( check out Pintrest fro some great ides! ) Is VERY space saving, super easy to clean, LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! P.S. - Dont be afraid to "smash it closed" just use a spatula to "push the edges in as you close it" if you have a super stuffed item or using thick breads. When I was a kid in 1990, I for some reason was obsessed with the SnakMater infomercial and wanted one so badly. I never did get one, so when I saw this on Amazon, I was like, ok this is very similar, get it for laughs and nostalgia. I'm just having fun with it, making different snacks in it, but I will say the non-stick and clean-up of this machine is very disappointing. The food doesn't just "fall out" as advertised. Things stick, you have to pry some things out, and anything that oozes out gets all over and sticks and you have to spend like 15 minutes with some elbow grease to get it clean. I was excited to start using this product. I followed the directions to clean the surface before using. I made my husband & I basic Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. Being careful not to put too much cheese, being I didn’t know how it will turn out. I followed the directions provided how to make the Grilled Cheese. First issue, was the latch was hard to align & clip closed. Second, I noticed cheese oozing from the sides & from the back all over the hinges & heating cable. Third, the melted cheese made it hard to open the top to get the sandwiches out. It finally opened, there was cheese all over. I took the 2 sandwiches out and wiped the plates to prepare for the next 2 sandwiches. There was cheese stuck to the plastic frame, couldn’t get the cheese off easily. Put the final 2 sandwiches in, same amount of cheese as the first two. The same thing happened, cheese oozing out of the sides & out of the back. Even though I cleaned the plates before use, there was a strange taste to the sandwiches. Needless to say neither my husband or I were happy with the Gotham Steel Sandwich Maker. I would hate to see what a mess there would be if we were making any other recipes in the booklet. One positive note, it did do a good job browning the bread.
