I purchased this glass and plastic bowl specifically for microwaving popcorn, and it has made the process much safer than using the stove, especially for my teenager. The design is convenient, and it's easy to use. However, I noticed that there were more unpopped kernels left than I expected after microwaving. This might be a consideration for those who prefer fully popped batches. Overall, it's a good alternative for quick and safe popcorn, but be aware that some seeds might remain unpopped. This is a great popper. It makes a decent sized batch that’s equal to about two microwave popcorn bags. You put butter and seasoning in the lid and kernels in the container. However you can not fully season with lid only salt it, and most of the salt ends up in the bottom after all of it pops so it only lightly salts. It takes quite a bit of butter, I use margarine butter which takes a longer cook time because real butter burns fast. You put a layer of seeds to cover the bottom but only makes one layer. If you put more it doesn’t pop all of them without burning. With margarine, one layer of seeds and some popcorn salt it takes 6:00, microwave bags take 3:00 however two microwave bags equal one batch from this popper so that would equal the same amount of time. I would highly suggest and the taste is amazing, make sure to add seasoning after pouring it in a bowl. You can make all kinds of popcorn with this, white, red, small, big, I love it! And the quality is great, only complaint about the design is that the glass gets really burning hot and the plastic handle doesn’t always work for how you need to hold it and you might accidentally touch the glass and burn yourself but I wouldn’t worry about it, I’ve been using it for almost a year and haven’t hurt myself. Love my popcorn popper ~ only problem is I use butter. One time I added seasoned salt on top of butter That is a NO. It melted the top - half of the top is burned (black) and it was stretched down a little over 1/2". The wholes are large now so can't measure with lid. Just under 1/3 cup is one lid measure. I purchased the 1-2 servings size 1.5 qt in Teal, and it works to perfection with nary a popcorn kernel left behind. The popcorn was nice and fluffy and after researching microwave corn poppers this one proves to do exactly as described. But I believe I was able to make the popcorn flawlessly with these basic tips for using this popcorn popper. Tips and Tricks: Of course, wash it first before use and then follow the instructions and use these tips for best outcome of popping the perfect kernel. Poured the lid full of popcorn in the popcorn maker using Walmart's brand of kernels and dropped 1 TB of Avocado oil in the bottom making sure all the kernels are coated with it. I used a 950-watt GE microwave but did not use the popcorn button like they tell you not to. Placed the popper on the outer edge of the turntable instead of on center with the handle pointed toward the center. I discovered this last tip from a YouTube video. Apparently, this provides the best way for the popcorn to circulate for even popping. The oil creates a hotter temp to get things popping faster and more thoroughly. I didn't try it without using oil but based on the delay in popping and scorching that I have read, I probably won't pop without a touch of avocado oil since oilless popping seems to delay and prolong pop times possibly leading to scorching of kernels that some describe. Hope this helps! Literally within 30 seconds it began popping and was done in 1 minute 40 seconds. The popcorn was crisp and tasty, and I counted the remaining kernels and there were only 8 left un-popped and zero burning. Flavored with my own seasonings and enjoyed. Love this product and with the tips I learned, I nailed perfect popcorn with the 1st try, no trial and error needed, and will use it every day for a healthy snack. I got this as an impulse purchase but I really like it!! I know that microwave popcorn isn’t great for you, and it’s easy to add my kernels, oil, salt and whatever other flavorings I’d like to this and it makes perfect popcorn every time. It can also go in the dishwasher which is super convenient!

First time, i religiously followed instructions, and was disappointed. Lots of un popped kernels, etc, so i put it back for two minutes, still not great. . Then i decided to NOT put butter in the vented top and set my little microwave for 4 1/2 minutes. I stood beside it ready to stop it if pops slowed down, it ran the entire time. The result lots of crisp puffs, which were very tasty, slightly darker in the center, but that added to flavor. Very few unpopped kernels. Added bonus is that the popcorn stayed warm much longer than other methods, warm enough to melt room temp butter just be putting it on top of puffs. I've used air poppers for many years, and experimented with stove top recently, this outshines them all. Please note i am not recommending this method for everyone, it may be that my microwave is less powerful than yours! In any case stay close until you know what YOUR oven does with this.
