Virtually no old maids left, and no burnt popcorn. I bought my first one september 5 2023, read the directions, which are pretty good actually, and made my first batch of popcorn using only vegetable oil and popcorn. Turned out great. Made several more, each with excellent results. So I took the maker with me in the rv for a trip, and it was awesome to have great quality and tasty popcorn in the rv. So I decided to leave that one in the rv, and buy a second one to have in the house. It heats up fast and the stirring wire keeps the kernals moving along the hot oil plate to get them all popped. The only issue I have encountered so far, is while it is popping the kernals, you have to leave the top of the bowl open for steam to exit. This also allows a small bit of oil to splash out and onto the counter top, so be careful and mindful about that for safety and clean up. Otherwise 2 thumbs up and I have recommended this Dash popper to several friends already. Update. Probably 100 or more batches of popcorn later, and it is still going strong. Oil plate still heats up just as fast and no issues with the machine. ... show more

Absolutely Fantastic. Great Value and easy to use for freshly made popcorn. All pieces fit seamlessly together. The clear plastic doubles as a popping dome and a bowl.     • Unusual Smell

I bought this one based on the good review, but there were few reviews that mentioned certain smell. I got the unit, cleaned it, and no I didn't dunk the whole unit in water, just cleaned the surface before using. The popcorn popped fine without problems, however few minutes into the popping, I started smelling what smelled like a burning plastic smell. I checked the dome cover and other parts of the unit to see if something was melting, it was not. After I unplugged it, I was looking carefully around the unit to see where it is coming from and smell was coming from main base unit which plugs into the outlet. It seemed like something inside may have been melting. Hard to see what the issue is without opening it up and I didn't bother to do so and I opted to just return. The popcorn was popping well, it does seems to be doing its job but instead of the nice smell of freshly popcorn, you get a smell full of burning plastic which isn't good. I did contact Dash's customer service, they were responsive but didn't offer any explanation but recommended to return it to Amazon. I don't know if this is the unit settling in on its first use, maybe it is plastic or glue inside the main base reacting after being turned on but it was strong enough for me to be hesitant on using the unit again. ... show more
