    • Great as a hot pad, but mediocre “massager”/vibration

I use this every day for my chronic back pain, and it works amazingly. Even on low it gets very hot (I put a blanket between me and it if it’s too much). I don’t often use the vibration “massage” functions, but they do help me sometimes. I only place this on my back horizontally, not vertically, because of the placement of the vibrator parts, they are bulky and stick out. There are two of them, one on each half of the pad (if you imagined a line down the middle folded “hamburger style” not “hotdog style” if that makes sense). When placed horizontally, these vibrating nodes are comfortably right off to the sizes of me, however, I am a decently small person so they might dig into someone else’s back. This product provides a great, deep heat, but the massage functions are lackluster. It just vibrates in those two spots, which don’t really help my back pain. If there was an option to not have massage, I’d get that for next time. ... show more

I have some bad arthritis in my low back and I also sit for 8 hrs a day as well for work. I find the different massage levels really are relaxing and adding heat just makes everything feel great. The cord I find long and sometimes in the way but good. Vibrations are all good and u can pick which speed you need. ... show more

I bought this in Jan 23, and used it 2 or 3 times after falling on ice. I hadn't used it since then, and ended up misplacing it when I moved. Now, I'm having some back issues. I Searched and searched through the boxes I hadn't unpacked to find this thing. I used it 2 times and was so grateful to have it. The heat and massage were perfect! It felt great. The 3rd time, I used it for about 5 minutes, and it just stopped working. I unplugged it for 15 minutes or so and plugged it back in. Still didn't work. The lamp on that outlet works, but I did try another outlet. Still doesn't work! Even if I had used it a lot, something like this should last much longer than a year! when I bought this, I purposely chose it over brands I didn't know much about that were less expensive. I thought Sharper Image was a brand that I could trust. I'm not working right now, so I can't even buy a new one to help my back pain. I would not recommend this Sharper Image heat and massage pad. I wasn’t expecting much when ordering this so I was pleasantly surprised when it exceeded my expectations. I used this on my lower back and it worked well. It took a bit to warm up but once it did it felt good. I kept it on my back for 30-45 minutes and it stayed hot and did the job well. Would I buy it again? Yes ... show more

I like the heating element of the massage pad. I bought the 12 in x 24 in pad. I was very disappointed in the massage feature. I thought it was going to be for the whole pad. Instead, there are 2 small massaging blocks, at each end of pad. So you have to situate them just right for a fair massage. Also, the vibration of the blocks is not that great and it's loud. I found putting it on medium, steady vibration best. I am actually planning to return it. The product isn't worth the price and the box states new and improved.
