I'm not sure about all these bad reviews. I like it. It was packaged well. It is preseasoned but I always re-season my cast iron, so I don't really have any issues there. It weighs exactly the same as my 12" round Lodge skillet, so it is beefy. The company name/logo is stamped on the bottom but it is indented NOT raised. It looks cool to me. It does NOT make the pan unlevel. It is perfectly flat on the bottom. As for the 12" size....it's 12 inches on the bottom measured diagonally, not side to side. Side to side is about 10 inches. I would buy it again. I have a Blackstone griddle but I think this used with another pan on my regular camp stove will actually be more versatile. ... show more

It's good for certain things. Got a rough, textured bottom. Don't know why. That's not good for cooking in general. How long would it have taken to smooth that out? With that said, if you have a grinder, you can do it yourself. Anyway, the other cons are, the sides are kinda high and when cooking with a fork, you get tagged by them if you're not paying attention. Takes a long to time to heat up as well, as there's so much surface area I suppose. With that said, when it's cooking, you're cookin'. Seems to be made for for southern dinner type meals. Fried chicken, green tomatoes, fried okra, you name it. Being from Acworth Georgia, it handles all that very well. Never tried eggs with it though, as I said, the bottom is textured. Prob stuck in all those crevices. It's good for what it's good for, as well as unique. ... show more

I decided to take up cast iron cooking & so this is my first cast iron fry pan. Upon recieving, I cleaned it and re-seasoned a few times of my own. It has performed flawlessly every time! Fantastic in size, I would absolutely buy this again!

I’ve bought several Bayou Classic cast iron pieces since discovering the joys of cast iron cooking (since July of 2019). I have many BC (Bayou Classic) pieces, most of my cast iron is BC brand. The quality of this piece is what I expected when I purchased it. Very happy when I opened the box. Like it! This started because I saw those square copper pans on TV, but when I saw them in person, they were so small! Because I love the cast iron pans I already have, I looked for a larger square one with high sides...And voila! The diagonal set up of this pan is even better. Now keep in mind- this is a BIG pan! And it can get HEAVY. It has an extra (very necessary) small handle on the off side of the pan that is a great feature. But, that said, bacon slices actually fit! Four grilled cheese sandwiches actually fit! Pancakes fit! It's AWESOME!!! ... show more

    • Be aware domed botton and thin pan.
BE AWARE. This pan is thinner than the other pans on the market and the one i received was domed in the dottom so much so that all the oil ran to the sides of the pan and the eggs i dropped in..the yolks slid all the way out of there whites. I had to telt the pan to get yolfs back in place.BE AWARE. The pan is so thin that when i dropped the refrigerated eggs in the pan it drew the heat right out of the pan and had to wait for the pan to heat up enough to start cooking again. If i wanted to fry in a thin square pan i could have used my cookie sheet and saved my money..So why did i give this pan five stars ? Its going to make a GREAT pan to through in the camp fire when i go camping. ... show more
