I've used these several times to make fruit leather and they work well but these are so 'floppy' that they must be placed on a tray to keep them flat and prevent spilling of the fruit mash. The dehydrator shelves work well for this. The other 'skills' needing practice are keeping the tray level so that the mash doesn't run over the side of the 1/4" high side wall, and then re-leveling the mash to be an even thickness. Uneven mash is probably the biggest challenge to a successful batch. If the mash thickness is even, the leather dries consistently and easily peels off the silicone. If the mash is uneven, then the thin areas will dehydrate much quicker than the thicker areas and then become quite 'crispy' if left in the tray until the thick areas are dehydrated enough. I found it best to cut off sections of the dried thinner mash while the thicker mash continued. The trays are easy to clean and I store them in the dehydrator between runs to help prevent them getting damaged. ... show more

Making fruit leather with parchment paper is a JOKE. These trays fit my Excalibur Dehydrator perfectly, with just a little bit of room to shift. The trays are not sturdy in that you need something under them to keep the bottom flat and moveable. I used my existing dehydrator trays and placed these on top. I am SO IMPRESSED with how easy the fruit leather peeled off. I mean, not sticky and had to cut or scrap with my fingers to get an edge started. All I had to do is start at a corner and end inside out and BOOM, a whole sheet of fruit leather with no effort. Cleaning was a breeze. Not only will I buy other silicone mats for various other purposes from this brand, I’ve posted on my social and blogger about it. This is a tool you need for dehydration 100%. ... show more

I bought these for dehydrating eggs, and they work perfectly for that. They fit nicely in my dehydrator, and because they are non-stick and flexible, easy to remove the dry eggs. Just made fruit leather out of a rather runny mix, and these trays did the job! No more frustration of single-use curling parchment paper. The shallow sides are great at holding back excess food. Cleanup is easy, too.
