This knife seems to be almost identical to a brand of knives I was buying but they disappeared. They were called Sky Light. I can't say for sure but I am really glad that I found this brand ( Zelite ) as they are beautifully made and I can get them razor sharp pretty easily. They are almost too pretty to scratch up by using them,but, gotta do it. I love these knives ... show more

I love this knife. I’ve had it for about a month or so, but I wear it in a sheath on my belt. It has proven very functional (I don’t use it as an ax or a shovel) and feels extremely good in the hand. The steel feels very strong, and it has held its edge without complaint through all of the tasks I put it to. The Damascus pattern is beautiful, and the shape of the blade is a good balance of form and function. The handle material is highly polished, which could be a bit slippery, but so far not enough to cause a hazard. Money well spent. ... show more

I’m a Product Designer, a master craftsman, an ex-professional modelmaker, and a skilled amateur chef. I know knives, sharpening and knife skills. This knife is a replacement for an irreplaceable knife my Wife LOVED, that some friends lost for us. It was a very small but wide sushi knife I bought for her in Asakusa, Tokyo, and replaced the traditional handle with a cherry wood and brass/epoxy one I sculpted especially for Her hand. Needless to say, replacing it was a challenge. This one is slightly bigger, but miles better! She LOVES it even more! Plus, it doesn’t rust. Keeps an edge like crazy, super-fine angle, gorgeous Damascus steel treatment, an exquisite handle (truly gorgeous! Excellent ergonomics, Fantastic fabrication and finishing) and function like a dream. If you can swing it, buy one. You will be happy too. Makes a great gift, in a nice presentation box (paper board, with good explanation graphics and great foam and flocking interior for your model) that will flatter even the most discerning recipient. I’ll be lusting after more, I cna tell you. If I didn’t have a fabulous collection in my custom made (by me) knife rack already, I’d be running up the debt right now! ... show more

This is amazingly sharp right out the box. Very nimble and made for poultry. If you like to break down your own chicken this knife will pay for itself in no time at all. Feels great in the hand. I really love this series of Zelite knives. They constantly are coming up with great additions to the lineup. Wish they still used vg10. I believe the vg10 showed of the Damascus pattern better than the aus10 does. The pattern is still there just more washed out looking. Maybe mine was buffed to long. Not sure, but a knife is a tool and as that you just aren't going to find better for the money. I also own a bunch of yaxell knives super gou, ran and enso. These are very comparable in the out the box sharpness. As far as selection, I can't say I've seen another brand with so many choices. Great job Zelite. ... show more

It is stunning, well packaged and sharp (just ask my finger LOL). At first I wasn't sure I liked it, but after working with it several times it's a winner. If you are looking for heft, this isn't the knife for you.

What a great knife! I have the 7 inch Sandoku as well which is fantastic, but just a little large for daily meal cutting. This one is perfect. Sharp as a razor blade. Does a good job of holding edge and fits and maneuvers optimally. All around a fantastic cutter! Thank you Zelite!
