  • Low back pain gone
Color: Black/Natur
I have been using a high end office chair. I was continuing to have low back pain and muscle spasms, especially when standing up after sitting for an hour. My chiropractor told me to get a standing desk. I decided to try this kneeling chair. I have been using it daily for a week. My low back pain and the muscle spasm is gone. I have no back muscle tightness. And I have been surprised at the comfort of the chair. I adapted to the leg position quickly. What I did notice at the beginning was some muscle tightness and fatigue in my mid back, between my shoulder blades. I think this has been simply from a new position. That has significantly decreased over the week. I find the cushions/padding comfortable. Easy to sit and kneel on for hours. Easy assembly. It is sturdy. I'm 6 feet 2 inches and weigh 192 lbs. It is very lite to pick up and move. Sometimes I do rock on it. I like that feature. The height is perfect for me. Fits easy with my desk. I'm happy I bought it. ... show more

  • Ergonomic and Great Investment for Reducing Muscle Tension from Sitting
Color: Dark Blue Revive Fabric With Natural Ash...
I love this stool and it is a great investment for reducing/preventing muscle tension in the back from sitting for long hours. I have a desk job and get back pain from sitting long hours at ny desk. In regular computer chair ls, no matter how I try to sit up straight and stretch, my back pain builds up as muscle tension faster than I can relieve it w/ stretching, massages, and chiropractic adjustments. I got this chair after reading another review comparing this product to a similar product that’s over $100 cheaper, and am glad I paid extra to get this one because as soon as I unpacked the box I could tell the parts are very well made. It was easy to put together, it came with two allen wrenches and no additional tools were needed. And once I sat in this kneeling stool, there was no going back to regular chairs. It was incredibly comfortable and supportive and helped me to sit up straight and balanced and it has effectively relieved my back pain since day 1 of using it. I simply love this chair! ... show more

  • Adds variety to seating options…
Color: Black Revive Fabric With Black Ash Base
+ : New, arrived about a week ago. Easy assembly, well designed to be stable and sturdy. Seat pad is firm, stable, comfortable. I was surprised that the chair allows me to sit comfortably with my feet, legs in a variety of positions - not just kneeling. I’m using it at my desk in a carpeted room, so have not attached the (included) floor protector strips to the wood rockers… and find I can “scootch” to make small adjustments to the chair’s position as I work. I can’t guarantee that’s a good idea for the long term since the floor friction may wear the wood finish on the very bottom of the rockers. However, the finish on the wood pieces appears to be very high-quality, and likely to be durable. And, it’s the very bottom… not going to be visible without turning the chair over! - : The two pads that support knees/lower legs seem thicker and less firm than the seat. As I sit down, and occasionally as I continue using the pads, I get a very slight sense of shifting, and question whether I might slip. Checking where and how I’m supported says all’s good, I’m safe. I can get accustomed to this. Especially since the pads are otherwise very comfortable. ... show more

  • Good for Back Pain, Promotes Movement
Color: Black/Natur
Everyone knows that all day sitting is horrible for the body. I have been using my new varier balans chair for about a week now. I put it together myself very quickly and easily. Remember to save the little allen wrench and place it in the storage pouch on the underside of the chair. They say after two weeks you should tighten the bolts once more and then whenever you need to thereafter. This chair has been an adjustment for my body. I got it due to horrible back pain from sitting in a traditional office chair doing computer work. In the varier chair you can rock back and forth which I do quite a bit now, especially to music. This promotes constant movement/healthy fidgeting. I also change position with my shins on the pads and prop my foot up on the shin pad (this also opens the hip flexor)...basically there are many combinations of how you can sit in this chair and the whole point is to not maintain the same position for hours which is much better for your body. My shins tend to get a bit sore if I leave them on the shin pads for longer periods but I think it's just getting used to the chair still. My back no longer aches at the end of the work day which is a problem solved. Be sure not to slouch or hunch over in the chair. The curvature of the seat pad does not promote this but you can hunch if you really want to. If a person is super tall or shorter I'm not sure how this chair will fit....for reference I'm nearly 5'6 and it seems fine for me and easy to get in and out of. I read online that you can also turn the chair backwards and sit on it that way so the combos are pretty vast in how to use it. I highly recommend regular rocking back and forth to do a bit of spine 'massage' and flexion. Bottom line - if you're unsure, try it...worst case you give it a few weeks and return if it's not the right fit for your body. ... show more

  • The boxed hardware of the alternatives is also of pretty low quality and stripped easily
Color: Black/Natur
This is the third Ergo chair that I have owned. In general, the Variable Balans is the same design and proportions as cheaper alternatives. Noticeable differences are the quality of the padding and fabric, which is much springier than my other chairs, the lack of a horizontal stabilizing bar (common in cheaper chairs, and the quality of the hardware that ships with the product (these appear to be brass wood screws, someone please correct me though). The Variable Balans also has a small leather loop on the underside that fits an Allen wrench/Hex key used for tightening. The main problem I had with cheaper alternatives was quality control. It was a pain to put the chairs together because of alignment; the wooden pieces were either slightly warped or manufactured poorly. This put a lot of tension on the chair itself and resulted in cracking. The boxed hardware of the alternatives is also of pretty low quality and stripped easily, which is easily fixed with a trip to the hardware store. I sent one other chair back and received a replacement with the exact same problem. Not so with the Varier Variable, everything fit together nicely like a glove. ... show more
