  • Oh I like this.
This phone holder works great. The wing nut securely holds the mount, and the clamp system works well for a phone or tablet. This is my second one so obviously they work extremely well.

  • Great for tablets. Must tighten to secure it, it WILL hold.
I bought this item to hold my 11-in tablet. It came in a tiny box. The parts were easy to put together, I've owned several for the CD slot but for regular phone sizes. The holder feels very smooth. Feels velvety to touch. It has rubber like grips at the top and bottom area that hold the tablet or phone. Feels solid. If you open the bottom area with the 2 side buttons. It will stay at the selected size you pull it at. Kind of typical of other phone holders. Then you can use the to grip to adjust to the side of your phone or tablet. I used this holder for both my 11 in tablet and regular cell phone with it's cover attached. I'm not sure why users can't use it on smaller phones. If you set it portrait style, it will hold it. And then you can turn it to the side if you have to. The photos show you how it will look if your CD player is at similar height. I flipped mine upside down like the other reviewer. I did that for 2 reasons. I'm short on stature. So my field of vision is slightly blocked. The other reason is to kind of hide my tablet from people seeing it when I run inside for a minute. I have heavy tint in my vehicle but you can't still see the dashboard if you walk closer by. And I only run inside a minute because I'm a delivery driver otherwise my tablet will be put away or go inside with me during longer periods. Also it does hold very well with tablets, you have to make sure the part that you turn to tighten right behind the tablet is actually tightened. If you tend to move the holder too much, then yes it will loosen and appear to not securely hold your tablet. Any holder will do that, even for your phone. So if it feels like it's not holding it, secure it tighter. That's it. And yes there is some bounce to it. I think that could be solved by facing it slightly upwards rather than vertical. The more vertical, then more bouncy it gets. Very happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Didn’t work because…
This product is of great quality and is comparable to another holder I have. This would work great for a flat tablet or phone. However, it didn’t work for what I needed it for (portable CarPlay screen) because the screen had a beveled back edge. The arms were not long enough/product wasn’t deep enough so my screen wasn’t held securely and constantly fell out. ... show more

  • Works great!
Holds my Samsung A8 tablet in its case pretty well. Could use a bit more friction in the ball as I have to tighten it pretty hard to stop it from falling down when going over bumps, but that might just be from the weight of the tablet and case. Very easy to install, light weight and versatile as it fits another much larger tablet and my phone just fine. ... show more

  • Perfect
Works perfect, Love that I don’t have to attach anything to my windshield, or have to have any adhesive holding it in place, also not in my line of vision while driving.

  • A great tablet option (as long as you aren't driving over excessively bumpy roads)
This holder for my 5th generation iPad (9.7") has been a lifesaver. Never once has it dropped my tablet. Bu it needed some extra work to keep my tablet positioned correctly. I purchased this holder after trying out a few others that relied on suction cups. In the summer heat they never held very well for long. I didn't want to use holders that used adhesive pads or screws. I needed something that would securely hold my iPad when I was doing Door Dash but also be removable when I didn't need it. I'd seen holders like this before but couldn't believe they really worked based on the thin sliver of plastic that slid into the CD slot. But after getting tired of nearly dropping my iPad and not wanting to block my view or glancing over to it laying on the passenger seat, I reluctantly purchased this holder. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to correctly assemble it, as I'm a dimwit sometimes. After I got it together correctly, I installed it, then set it up to hold my iPad precisely as I wanted it. Later that day, the first true test of the holder started. It mostly held! I was really surprised. I kept glancing at it nervously, waiting for the sudden drop that happened too many times before. But, it never dropped. It mostly kept the iPad facing me as I placed it so I had no glare and could see the the map as it scrolled along guiding me from destination to destination. Sweet! But as usual, things started to fail little by little. I noticed towards the end of my dash that the tablet had begun to droop downwards a bit. I could still see the screen, but it wasn't at an optimal position. I tried tightening the knob more to lock the tablet but it would gradually loosen just enough from lateral and vertical forces to let the iPad droop. I stopped at a hardware store and picked up some plumbers tape. I took the holder apart and wrapped the ball inside the joint generously. I then reassembled the holder, positioned the iPad just right, then proceeded to tighten it as much as I could. For a while it worked. But slowly, almost imperceptibly the tablet drooped again. I took the holder apart once again, but added plumbers tape to the threaded part that goes over the ball joint. I then put the screw back on and tightened it. Once again it seemed rock solid. And again the iPad slowly drooped. To be fair, this design is nearly perfect. I think as long as a person drives on smooth roads and hits very few bumps, the holder should work great with tablets. But my deliveries sometimes go over bumpy streets and corduroy dirt & gravel roads. I think almost any tablet holder would fail then. As a last ditch effort, I took it all apart again, but this time added a healthy amount of superglue gel to the ball and the threaded assembly. I quickly repositioned the iPad one last time and screwed everything together as tightly as possible. I left the holder unused for a few hours to give the superglue time to set and lock. After that, I put the holder back in the CD slot, put my iPad back in, and took off with more deliveries. That was about a month ago. Since then the tablet has stayed locked in place. I only get worried and support the holder when I driving over those gravel and dirt roads that are so rough that I think I might've rattled a couple of teeth out of my mouth, LOL! But the glued joint has never loosened or gave way. Nor has the holder fell out of the CD slot. It is a far less expensive solution using my cellular iPad and my iPhone with unlimited data to get a big useful map that helps me deliver. Why spend so much on a Car Play unit when my iPad and iPhone do the trick? If you are using this holder for smaller things like a phone, or a smaller tablet, I don't think you'll have to go to the lengths I did. But if you do want to use it for a tablet that is on the larger side, keep in mind that you might have do modify it a little bit depending on the streets and roads you travel on. Overall I am satisfied with this holder. Is it perfect? No. Nothing short of permanently altering your dash or using some mount that will obstruct your line of sight out of your windshield will work flawlessly. This particular design is perfect for me. ... show more

  • fit the CD slot
The mount has a decent quality. It fits the CD slot in my car well. It can hot the large devices that fit into the holder tight, but the slider is a little hard to maneuver if you constantly need to take off your devices. The holder can be easily exchanged to others which I switched to another holder to hold my back camera. Overall, it is sturdy and fits my need. ... show more
