I've usually used the typical ice packs that have a rectangular cloth or fabric cover that doesn't really fit into a particular body part. Since I had broken ankle and had surgery, decided to order this, hoping for an ice pack that would fit like a mold to the ankle and it was the perfect choice. The fabric on this thing is super smooth and comfortable, and it seems to hold temperature super well, because when they delivered it and the package was outside for a couple of hours, it was cool to the touch. Another reviewer said that you just cannot take this out of the freezer and apply to the skin and that sounds right. It's super cold, you either have to wear a sock or let it warm a little bit if using directly against skin. The feel and the fit are both amazing. TheraIce has become my go-to after trying this foot/ankle pack and their headache pack. They are made out of quality materials that feel comfortable against the skin, and they are shaped to stay on the body well without any straps. I also appreciate that they come in a plastic sleeve to keep the packs clean when stored in the freezer or fridge. That said, I do have a few critiques. First, they do not stay cold for very long, so I recommend purchasing two to cycle between. Second, they seem to run small. I broke my ankle playing roller derby and this was the best purchase I made! Great compression and nice and cold. Also easy to put on and take off. Toss it back on the freezer for just a few hours and its good to go again!

This is perfect for lingering inflammation after ankle surgery. I don't think I could have used it right after surgery for a triple fracture, as you have to point your toes enough to slide it on. That said, it isn't difficult to put on at all now that I have better range of motion. It is COLD. Wear a sock under it or let it thaw a bit, and it works fabulous. It is better than the others I have tried at cooling all the way around my ankle at once. Definitely worth the price. I bought cheaper ones that wrap around and velcro and used them until the gel beads started leaking. This is so much more comfortable. I recently bought this for my insertional Achilles tendonitis and here are my quick opinions. The Good: Pretty comfy: Honestly, it fits snugly and feels better than a regular bag of ice. It's easy to put on too. The Not-So-Good: Doesn't stay cold long enough: I find myself refreezing it after maybe 10 to 12 minutes. Which isn't terrible but It would be awesome if the intensity of the cold lasted longer for real relief. Overall: It's not bad, especially if you don't mind refreezing it often. This product is such a perfect therapy item for any ankle area care needs. I was constantly trying to mold other soft and flexible ice packs around my ankles to sooth pain from a broken and sprained ankle, leg, and foot joints. I finally came across this product to give it a try. I am very happy with the quality of the product and how useful it has become for me daily. I wish I found it sooner. I use it cold, and it lasts all the way through the time I need for therapy. I believe it will last a long time based on the materials and build quality. Some reviewers say it's too cold coming out of the freezer, but I find it good to go.
