  • Well thought out and informative book
While not in the veterinary profession myself, I enjoyed this book immensely. It shared a behind-the-scenes perspective we don’t see when bringing our pets to the vet. It also shared valuable tips on managing challenging work environments that are relatable to non-veterinary professions.

  • Learn How to Be Kind to Others and Yourself from this Licensed Veterinary Technician
Tracy Bittner writes with hard-won wisdom gained over the course of her career as a Licensed Veterinary Technician about achieving wholeness and happiness using the practices of awareness, meditation, and self-care. While Bittner writes about experiences in the world of administering veterinary care, she makes her experiences accessible to anybody who picks up her book. The range of experiences she describes–losing her horse in a barn fire, euthanizing her own dog at the end of a long day of euthanizing six other companion pets, being sabotaged by managers driven by their love of power–are relatable. Her experiences establish her authority as someone who knows what it takes to overcome toxic people through consistent effort from day to day. Each chapter ends with key takeaways and useful resources for further investigation. Read this book, and you will find yourself equipped to deal with the people around you without succumbing to their negativity and to find happiness that will run deep after a some practical effort. #bekindtoveterinarycaregivers #justbe kind ... show more

  • Interesting and helpful
This describes what being a vet tech in an animal hospital can be like, especially some of the issues with other people that work there. There’s also some good advice about these issues even outside of the pet care industry.

  • Personal and insightful.
A friend told me about this book, so I decided to read it. My reasons for reading it (and buying extra copies) was to learn more about the veterinary business and its positives and negatives. I have dealt with many vets for many years, having had cats and dogs most of my life. Also, I have a great niece who is studying to be a vet, and I wanted her to read the book. Over the years I have met vets and LVTs who were varied in personality and, dare I say, dedication? Those with lack of dedication never saw me again! Tracy Bittner’s book is honest and open, and reveals so much personal information. I admire her dedication to her profession in spite of so many toxic situations. Her insights, reference articles, and experiences are a lesson to anyone, no matter the profession. Her writing style is easy to read and held my attention. I truly enjoyed reading this book and hope many others will read it. I plan to buy several more copies to give as gifts. Thank you, Tracy Bittner, for your book. ... show more
