Never used this brand before, but my son wanted purple hair. We chose this shade. It was nothing like any regular brown dye I'd ever used before. It got EVERYWHERE. We put black contractor bags over the sink and cut a hole to stick over him, and it just stained everything. We were able to wash our surfaces right away with minimal staining left, but his ears and skin and my hands are still purple. But other than that... the color is lovely. It did a beautiful job coloring the ends of my already deep red dyed hair. I love it it looks black indoors and the vibrant purple outside in the sunshine, which is what I was looking for. It doesn't come out dull and I am now weeks later and it is still holding a shine. I have had colors that dulled after a certain amount of time. Things that I do to maintain my already colored hair that probably helps. When washing the color treatment out I used cold water to lock in the color. I do this often when cleaning my hair. I have used a shampoo with color pigments to stop my red hair from fading being that blue and red make purple I am of the frame of mind that it at least helps that it has red pigments. I also only wash every other to possibly every 2 days, I just condition on those days. ... show more

Be warned, a lot of people discourage the use of splat because they say it's practically fabric dye and terrible for your hair, that it will never come out.... but I don't care, I want my hair purple 24/7 so I use only splat because that's exactly how it works! I've had it last for over six months before. For some reason this box only took well to my roots and the rest of my hair faded a lot quicker so I'm bummed that I have to do it again so soon. I do not use this on my kids hair though, only mine that should be purple 24/7 >.< ... show more

I've used this one plus many other splat hair colors, this one by far was the runniest I've ever seen I could tell right away shaking it ,it was going to be . But sending it back hell it took a week to get here I wasn't gonna wait that long hopefully turns out ok when I wash it . Next time I'll see if I can find one closer to home .my stores don't sell it anymore .I got the purple. ... show more
