  • GREAT INVESTMENT SAVES BOTH TIME AND MONEY
I bought this for my son who wanted to learn to golf. Initially I just bought him a net to hit into, however, after hitting into just the net for several months I realized there was no feedback on where the ball was going. It's only when we went to the range we realized his woods had a pretty bad slice. He got a little discouraged and wasn't as interested in practicing as much because he didn't know what the problem was. After we got the Skytrak he could see where his ball was going and when his ball did go off line, the data from the Skytrak told him what he did wrong (club face or club path was off). Additionally the launch angle, backspin, and descent angle data was really valuable in understanding the distance the ball went. The SKytrak has a lot of powerful tools built into it that we haven't really used yet but just using the practice range has been a REALLY big help. Like I mentioned he just started the game so for now we are mainly working on getting to be able to hit the ball straight. I know for the Skytrak is a big investment, however, over time it will be a lot cheaper than going to the range. He's still in school and is very busy so time was also a huge factor in the purchase. With the Skytrak you can practice even if you only have an hour or so of free time. If you have to go to a driving range, the time to drive there and back could be almost an hour. For ourselves, I know he's practicing a lot more using the Skytrak than he would be if he had to go to the range and it's really helped his game, which makes him want to play more. On a side note, their customer service is excellent. ... show more

  • Nothing but problems….
Cannot recommend based on my experience. Constant missed shots, resetting, power cycles and never being able to complete a full round of golf. Wish I never bought this quite frankly. Invested hundreds into software upgrades and I’ll never be able to enjoy it at this rate.

  • Awesome level up golf monitor!
I was using the OG; the plus connected easily, and it seems to have a more stable connection in my garage. Definitely few misreads and it shows the shot quicker MOST of the time, but not ALL the time. I had a few shots where it took about 3 seconds to register. The ST range is where the money is at; the data parameters take the guessing out of why I keep hitting hooks with my irons. it clearly shows path of face, in or out in degrees, and club face open or closed, also in degrees. ... show more

  • Finally, a working launch monitor!
Wow! I had given up on personal launch monitors after wasting money on P3ProSwing and Flightscope Mevo when those came out. Neither were accurate in the least, so I was really scared about what I was getting into with Skytrak+. I was extremely pleased that performance was excellent. I'm still waiting for my net to come in to use at home, but I want to provide a quick review of use at the range on mats. Setting up an account and installing the app on two iPads and one Android tablet was very easy. The only hitch was finding the wifi password which is "skytrakplus". Using the launch monitor was very easy, and I had little trouble with missed shots. On the first session, it missed 3 out of 50 shots: one that was hit fat by about 6 inches, one perfect shot, and one that was incredibly thin. All of the other fat or thin shots registered exactly as they looked visually. It worked well off of really tall driver tees as well as off the mat. The unit is very quick and plots the shot in a lifelike manner. All of the data on the main screen is easy to read and well presented. I was hoping to compare the accuracy to Toptracer at my local range and see whether or not the Skytrak+ doppler interfered with it, but as happens fairly often, it was out of service. However, with good shots with my pitching wedge, the displayed distance was within a yard of how far I felt I had hit it. Analyzing on iPad - You can select the shots you want to plot on a graph, but the graph doesn't have a legend for the shot height. It also doesn't allow you to zoom in, so your 120 yard shots are pretty small on a 340 yard graph. I also don't see an obvious way to hide or delete bad shots in the history window that I don't want to skew my statistics. I was unable to sync data from a "direct connection" session where my iPad was directly connected to the Skytrak+ WIFI at the range and without Internet access. The iPad app shows "Data Synced", but I don't see my shots under "RECENT ACTIVITY" on skytrakgolf.com. It seems like those shots are now only available on my iPad. Normally I'll use this at home with internet, so this isn't an issue for me. I really wish that Skytrak+ could display the video or even two or three still pictures of the impact like one of the competitors can do. Maybe they can add this in a future update if the hardware is capable. Until then I'll have to use the slow motion on my cell phone camera if I want to see what's going on at impact. ... show more

  • Chipping and putting rarely works, price for membership is a joke.
The list of bad outweighs the good. From not reading shots, to the battery draining within an hour. This thing really did not live up to these reviews. I was not aware when purchasing, that to use 3rd party software. You MUST buy skytrak software, to run that 3rd party software. The only reason that makes sense is a cash grab. Now I wouldn't mind if there was any benefit whatsoever to having that software but it is literally useless if you have 3rd party. Honestly coming from a gaming background the price vs what you get in course play is insane. They are getting away with murder, and preventing more people from purchasing a launch monitor. Chipping and putting is a joke, when it does register chipping it goes sailing. For putting you have to hit 100 yards with your putter to read 25 feet. One small thing that annoys me to no end, if you are under 100 yards it shows your shots in feet. I did purchase protective case for it and thought it would be made of metal, its very tough plastic so no complaints there. But one of the legs broke within 3 days, and the rear leg is lined directly behind charging cable. If you want to play with left and right handed player swapping it back and forth makes it a horrible time. Plus if you don't have it plugged in you have two hours max playing time with a full battery. If the price for software was 50$ a year it would make more sense. At 600$+ a year for skytrak+3rd part its near 600$ a year. You do not get near what you pay for. ... show more
