Personally, this scared me when I tried it on my 2 year old (23lbs) because it looked like she was being pushed to float due to so much padding. Later we realized, my daughter just didn't want to put her feet down. Once she got used to it she wasn't letting her body float and it was fine. I wouldn't rely on this to keep your child safe from drowning. My sons arms kept coming out of the sleeves so I bought him a new one. If you're looking for a life jacket that's safe and reliable this is not it.
