  • Awesome data
Style: Golf Launch Monitor
One of the best things I did this year for my golf game. Was hitting great to start the season then I upgraded my clubs to tour-level cavity backs. As time went on I got out of my groove and starting hitting straight pulls and hooks , even with hitting many shots with my indoor mat and net. The Garmin R10 provides so much great data I was able to key in on my swing analysis and after searching some solutions on YouTube was able to dial in my shots with the help of the feedback from the R10. It's very rewarding to now understand what I'm doing and need to do to control my swing better. This has been the best aid - exceeds what I expected out of it. ... show more

  • Very happy with this purchase
Style: Golf Launch Monitor
First, it is not perfect! But if you are looking for something affordable and easy to use that will give you great feedback on your swing mechanics then this is what you want. I use this indoors and outdoors. As long as you are the proper distance behind the ball and give it at least 10 feet in front to get data it is pretty darn good. The Garmin app is mediocre at best. I purchased the Amazing Golf App to use with it. It was a little more to get the lifetime license but well worth it. ... show more

  • It does work
Style: Golf Launch Monitor
If you follow the instructions setup the device as instructed it works perfect. My husband tested it both in our indoor simulator and on the golf course. This product works.

  • It is what it is... a $500 launch monitor! Great Product Support! Great Value!
Style: Golf Launch Monitor
You have to like the price of this device and it is good Garmin is finally getting them back in stock. Now that I have used the product outdoors at the range I am updating my review and have added another star. The R10 works very well as long as you take the time to set it up properly which is true of all launch monitors. I did not have any other monitors to check the results but had a friend use a range finder to check distances and they were very close. I did not pay for the subscription yet but I believe it could be used to simulate play at a course in Home Tee Hero with good results. I also want COMMEND the product support team they have worked with to attempt to resolve the issues I have had using the monitor indoors. Using the Garmin Approach R10 indoors returns data well under what I should be seeing, by at least 20%. I am an older golfer and the one time I had access to a TrackMan it clocked my swing speed between 65 & 70mph so maybe the algorithms used in R10 penalize slower swings compared to others. If so, I can hope a firmware or app update fixes addresses this. Another shortcoming I have found is how many missed shots there are when the clubs speeds drop below 30mph. I think that it tries to allow for a pre-swing waggle and as a result ignores short, slow chip like swings. Even below 40mph some the data that is calculated can be missing but it usually captures most shots above 30mph. This could really impact the ability to use this device in an indoor simulation as chipping would be much more difficult. The R10 has no way to capture putting so in the simulation it assigns a number of putting strokes based on distance from the pin, I knew this ahead of my purchase and have no issue with it. (I forgot to check this on the range so not sure if it is an indoor only thing or something I am doing wrong, the YouTubers don't seem to have this issue) If I get that fixed it will be 5 stars for sure. On the plus side other than distance and carry being short, the data the R10 spits out is consistent and appears to be correct based on what I am seeing while using it. Shots that go to the right of my target are reported as that direction, same for pulled shots that go to the left. On the driving range app it is a little difficult to tell if there is a draw or a slice, just that it was offline and by how much. Since it is radar-based lighting has no effect, so using it in a dimly lit garage should not be a problem or affect the data since technically you should be able to use it in the dark. In the end I am glad that I bought it and will continue to use it during practice. At this price point I doubt there is a better product for the mid to high handicapper looking for feedback on how they struck the ball. If you buy one make sure you update the firmware as that can make a huge difference depending on when the device was built. And once again product support has been excellent and continues to be quite responsive. ... show more

  • Worth the investment!
Style: Golf Launch Monitor
I got the R10 and used it initially with their app and some of the free trials. However after joining many of the FB groups for R10 users I learned about and researched GSPro. I now have a relatively cheaper starter golf sim in my garage and what a difference it has made on my game. The ability to hit balls in the evening after work and work on fixing your swing at home before going to the course is incredible. This has been by far the best investment I've made in my golf game in 20+ years of playing. No RST balls required, no major setup. just a net, a mat, and a laptop with the gspro software with the r10 passing the data and away you go. The one thing to note, you have to have the room for the r10 to record the swing data for longer clubs like the Driver or woods. I have mine at 7' from r10 to hitting area and then another 7' to the impact screen. So all in all about 15' long. But if you've got that you're good to go! ... show more

  • My R10 didn't work. $300 restocking fee!
Style: Golf Launch Monitor
I set up the R10 and took it to the range. It complained that it was tilted but there's no adjustment for that and the cement was flat. Then it kept telling me to "wake up the device." I finally got it to read a shot but then it would quit. Red light, green light, red light ... green light, go ... nope didn't capture anything. "Wake up the device again." I changed clubs, told the device, red light, green light ... nope, no reading. Out of 90 balls it captured 30 and not very well. Why is the total distance in yards but the clubhead speed is in kilometers? I could not find any way to change that. I think there may have been something wrong with the one I got because everyone else says it works great. I watched videos of people using it and it worked great for them but refused to work for me. A feature they should add is multiple announcements. Currently you only get to choose one. I would like to know, ball speed, clubhead speed in MPH and attack angle. Also it should announce when you're making a club selection for those of us without our reading glasses out in the sun trying to see a tiny phone display. ... show more
