I've had a few of what I consider economy office chairs. I'm impressed with the sturdy build of this Serta. The adjustment knob under the seat works great for regulating the degree of tension while reclining. I have no illusions about the longevity of the bonded leather. I hope to get two to three years before the inevitable pealing begins, and a few more before it's an eyesore. Until then I think it will be a comfortable chair. The padding is generous, the lumbar is firm and the quality is better than expected at this price point. Assembly was simple. Not sure why some reviewers have had difficulty. Since changing to a remote work schedule a few years ago, my old chair had completely worn out. I was well over due for a new office chair. This chair was fairly easy for one person to put together. Hand screw everything with the provided tools and you’ll be fine. I love the fabric (it was difficult to find a good fabric chair as most are bonded leather). The seat has a lot of cushion and the lumbar support is perfect - the placement is just right for someone 5’3”. Some people reported issues with the recline; however, they may not have realized that the entire seat and seat back reclines as one unit. it definitely is a chair. it was easy to put together aside from one, sad, angry screw that refused to screw in all the way... but everything else was easy enough. there is a plastic cover that comes with the up/down release thingy and it doesn't mention it in the instructions at all, so i didn't put it on the chair and uh... now i can't take it apart to put it on. so. be warned?? comfort is pretty good, you can lean back in it but the chair back is static so you're not truly reclining! just be aware. the cushion is pretty comfy actually, but i will probably end up getting a lumbar pillow at some point because there is little support. i know their other chairs do offer more lumbar support though, so if that's something you need i'd look at their arlington chair. the fabric is really nice! i literally only got this chair because i wanted fabric and HATE fake leather. so, if you're like me, i would recommend this chair. :) ... show more

Fairly easy to put together, the back portion help you keep correct posture. The lifting and tilt locks feel good, my previous chairs I have owned these would not be good. This and would end up leaning back to much and making me go in to bad posture. The seat portion needs more support, does not feel like anything is even there and I am just sitting on wood. Extra padding and maybe a lumbar support would addon pillow make it better. ... show more

This chair is amazing! The frame is made of matte, high quality black metal and is a modern, thin design. The color of the seat is a cool, light baby pink. The seat material is thick and so soft, the seat itself feels like memory foam! There are subtle brushed nickel accents on the bottom of the arm rests. The entire chair was very high quality, no scuffs anywhere on the frame or on the seat material, it was well stitched together and the package had all pieces required to assemble the chair. I have a very short desk, and the seat is able to lower down so that the arm rests are still below the table. It also reclines and spins effortlessly and totally smooth. I love it so much, it exceeded my expectations for the price and considering there were a fair amount of negative reviews.     • Absolutely the WORST purchase I have ever made

Looks good in the pictures and day one was mildly comfortable. DO NOT BUY this if you plan to use it. DO NOT BUY this if you are working from home. I honestly have not been this disappointed in a purchase from amazon ever. $171 dollars out the window. I cannot come up with the words to describe how pathetic and junky this product is. It is very obvious the manufacturer had every intention of ripping of the customer. Why so disappointed? I purchased this product on June 15, 2020 to replace an old chair because I started working from home due to COVID. Within weeks the seat pad is down to nothing and I had to buy a Amazon memory foam pad to help out my rear. It would hurt after sitting for more then a couple hours, worse then sitting on a metal chair. Next the material on the arms is too rough and textured, I find my self with irritated elbows by the end of the day. Then it began making all kinds of noises here recently, squeaking and creaking noises. And now finally the chair height is lowering and now longer holds its position. I weigh 195 pounds NOT 500. Today, November 11, 2020 I am chairing shopping again. Total garbage product. PLEASE DO NOT BUY!!! ... show more

    • I Wish I Would've Purchased Sooner

When I started working from I home I didn't realize how long this would go on. I initially purchased a cute little plastic chair and after getting this chair I am actually mad that I didn't make this purchase sooner. It was easy to put together, it took me about 30 mins alone. But it is soooooo comfortable! It offers great support and I honestly notice less back pain. I was worried that the arms would prevent me from pushing the chair completely under my desk but it works perfectly. The arms allow me to rest my elbows while typing without continuous adjustments. The seat and back are wide and well cushioned. Both myself and my husband comfortablely sit in this chair. I feel like the chair is pretty sturdy. I have used it about 6 weeks and I haven't had to re-tighten any screws. I have boys and they like to use the arms to hold themselves up as I sit in the chair and I do notice a wobble when they do that. But I believe with normal use it there wouldn't be an issue. ... show more
