My old chair finally bit the dust. I was looking for a nice office chair. I looked at Amazon reviews for days trying to pick the right one out. Let me tell you, after reading reviews, no chair has a great review on here. Also, most had horror stories about assembly or the armrests not fitting, or the lift not staying up. I was concerned about purchasing any of them. After I finally decided I was going to go with this chair and take the risk, I was extremely happy with it. It took less than 30 minutes to put together by myself. It went together great, and it sets exactly as I like. The chair is super comfy and rolls easily. Assembly proved a bit difficult. I could not get the arms on, no matter what I did I could not make both holes line up.

It should be noted that I bought a set of those aftermarket rubber wheels that Amazon was suggesting to go with this chair, as it was high-past-time the shredded old plastic office mat vintage 1995 that was under my old chair got the heave-ho; this has raised this chair somewhat from its design point. This chair feels very, very, very good. I'm not a snob so I couldn't care less about whether "bonded" leather is real or fake leather - it's actually real leather scraps from making higher-quality items, fused together into a sheet and worked like normal - and this chair _feels_ like I'm sitting in the chair of the general manager's office chair of some kind of branch office of a multinational firm of some sort or another. The instruction sheet doesn't mention it, but on the underside of the chair seat are a couple of L-shaped plastic brackets that were stapled to the bottom of the chair, to act as spacers for the front of the chair mounting bracket. The instructions do not even depict these spacers; in fact the assembly instructions depict the chair _without_ these spacers. Since the chair has its own native tilt-back and lock function, there's no need to retain these, and I wouldn't really want a structural member of my chair being affixed by mere staples anyway. Removing the spacers was a little obnoxious but nothing too difficult; if you leave them on, the front of the chair will be tilted upwards quite a bit even with the chair bracket at full-flatness. I tossed them, I suggest you do too. Assembling this thing by myself was a royal pain in the rear, but the instructions _do_ say "two adults recommended for assembly." I did not have any other adults to call upon, so I had to make do. The hardest part by far was aligning the holes in the seat with the holes in the back's mounting plate. My major complaint is that they used Allen-headed screws and an included Allen-wrench. Why, for the love of all that is holy, do companies keep doing this? Phillip's Head screws are just fine, and everybody has a Phillip's Head screwdriver. I banged my knuckles up a lot using the included Allen Wrench, and I was obliged to duct-tape said wrench to the underside of the chair for later-on tightening-up work. Otherwise, this thing feels _so good,_ especially the adjustable lumbar support. No way of knowing if it will remain that way, especially since I'm sure to be using it day-in, day-out, for years and years and years to come, but hopefully I'll get many years of good use out of it. ... show more

    • DISCOUNTINUED MODEL; Manufacturer Customer Service system is a JOKE

(1) Manufacturer stated this chair has been discontinued for "quite a while;" they have NO replacement parts (2) The Toll Free number printed in the assembly instructions is WRONG (go to their website) (3) Don't bother emailing or using the "on-line" contact form as no response occurs (4) Don't bother calling the manufacturer unless it's at their 6:00am PST "start time" (5) Don't bother attempting to obtain a replacement from AMAZON - another 2-weeks later and replacement still hasn't shown up (tracking number supplied doesn't even show it's been picked up!!) 1st chair arrived on time, as scheduled. But upon assembly step 2, it was discovered the clinch nut installed into the seat cushion was installed at an angle, blocking one bolt from entry into the cushion. The assembly instructions indicate to contact the manufacturer True Innovations for any problem parts. Of course, this was "after hours" so I decided to go to the True Innovations web-site in an attempt to speed up the process. I filled out their "contact us" form for "fastest service." Next day . . . . after waiting almost 24-hours with no written or phone response, decided to attempt the dreaded phone service call. Called the Toll Free number listed on the assembly instructions, only to find that it was for another company altogether. Called the non-Toll Free number and was placed in queue. Waited 30-mins, only for the system to hang up!! Thought this was garbage, so went back to the True Innovation web-site to discover the printed instructions had the WRONG toll free number!! Got in queue again . . . . only for the automated response to hang up on me again. Went back to the True Innovation website and copied the email address they supplied for "contact customer service." Sent an email from my own email account. Day 3: Waiting until mid-day for an email response which never came. Started to track my queue and length of the calls . . . . . 22nd in line . . . . got to position 10 . . . dropped at 35-mins 26th in line . . . . got to position 10 . . . . dropped at 38-mins 24th in line . . . . got to position 11 . . . . dropped at 28-mins Gave up for this day . . . . Day 4: Still no response from neither the on-line form, nor the personal email. Started the Toll Free attempt again at 10am PST . . . . . . 27th in line . . . . got to position 8 . . . . dropped at 34-mins 24th in line . . . . got to position 10 . . . . dropped at 34-mins 28th in line . . . . got to position 11 . . . . dropped at 34-mins Gave up calling; sent another on-line form asking service Day 5: Called the Toll Free number at 6:15am PST . . . . was caller 5 . . . actually got to talk to someone!! The woman who helped me was very nice and very quick . . . . but this is when I was told that this model of chair was discontinued "quite a while ago" and there were no replacement parts in the warehouse. She recommended that I take the chair back to the vendor. I fill out the return to vendor form on the Amazon web-site . . . . and I'm offered for AMAZON to send me another unit at no cost!! Hot dame! Let's do it!! They don't send it 1-day to 2-day like my PRIME membership . . . . they send it UPS GROUND!! *sigh* The arrives when the replacement is to show up . . . . only the tracking on Amazon indicates "the shipment is delayed." I type the tracking number into the UPS site . . . . it doesn't even show the package was picked up!! UPS has no record of the shipment. NO ORIGIN SCAN. Back to AMAZON web-site!! I'm told I have to wait for the system to tell me when I request a refund for the REPLACEMENT chair. Guess what!! It's TEN days after the package was supposed to be delivered to you, until the system tells you "now you can request a refund." THEN, AMAZON customer service tells you that you have to wait until the shipping company informs you that the package is undeliverable!! HOW EXACTLY ARE THEY GOING TO TELL ME IT'S UNDELIVERABLE IF THEY NEVER TOOK POSSESSION OF THE PACKAGE!!! ... show more
