I am a first timer ever in pressure cooking and first timer in canning using pressure cooker, first timer in canning fish, and it worked perfectly my very first time try! I used lake fish (sig, medium size whitefish) for low sodium preserves. I put towels inside on the bottom and between the jars. I filled up three jars with fish with three different recipes and rolled them tight manually. I filled up water under about 3/4- 2/3 of the cooker. Put it on high. Soon it started steaming and dripping around -which as it said in manual is totally fine, i just kept wiping it from the cooktop, but then the red button popped up and it stopped steaming! I reduced the heat just to maintain the red button to be up, I figured it was working at the lowest setting. I used suggested time and then removed from heat, let it sit until red button fell down, open the valve which is in the middle of the lid, and it was safe to take the jars out. I tried it next day, opened one jar, and it was awesome! Bones of fish were all soft! ... show more

This brightly polished cooker has beautiful detailing and a finished design that makes it visually impressive. It's very attractive. I was afraid that the two side handles would be hard to grip because they are fairly flat, but they do have a lip on the underside that helps to some degree. Also, I was concerned that the top plastic handle would be fragile because it looks very thin in the photos. In person, it seems a bit heftier. The red accents are a very bright red. Also, being new to pressure cookers, this 6 quart size seems perfect for a single meal for a family of 3-4. However, it might prove to be too small for cooking 2 or 3 meals to freeze.
