My brother showed me where he used them above and below kitchen cabinets and in living room above builtins. He helped me install above my builtins. The sticky tape does not work so we used a hot glue gun. Installation was tedious because of not sticking. Took two of us. I love how I can set times to come on, choose colors & set brightness. Bought two of these for under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen. LOVED that I can turn lights on an off from my phone, change colors, and all that... until one of them stopped working. After warranty period, of course. Cannot get it to connect to my router, even after completely removing device and starting from scratch. And I am an IT guy, too! Nothing wrong with the LED strip - it's just the power supply/controller. OK, great - I'll just order a replacement. Nope. Not available. Have to buy a whole new light kit at full price. So, I just plug and unplug the wall wart to turn it on/off, but that means NO remote or color control on that side. Disappointing. Minus 2 stars The other one works great!! Plus 1 star for a total of 4. Maybe you'll want to buy the protection plan...? ... show more

If you have a router that has a DMZ or Guest WiFi network be prepared for extra hurdles. I like to keep all my IoT devices on a separate network, and because this only has a wired ethernet port on the Hue Bridge, you need to buy another device to put it on that net. Even then you better know what you are doing to bridge your Guest net from WiFi to wired. If you don't understand anything above, then don't worry. Tried several brands to tey and save some bucks but ended up getting the Huel light strip for my 65 LG C2. Love the ease of ise and smart device integration of the Hue lights. Highly recommend them.

Pattern Name: Lightstrip Starter Kit
The quality control on these lightstrip are horrible. I bought one of these as my first Philips Hue product. The bridge worked well and was easy to setup. However, that's all that worked well. On the lightstrip, nothing worked at all. The controller was could connect to the bridge, but the lights did not work. I wasn't sure if it was the strip or the controller, but it didn't work. I then received a replacement. This time, the lights lit up! I thought they were good and installed them, but then I realized that the cool white LED wasn't working - only the warm white and color. This meant it mostly worked, but that I couldn't use white as a color. So ultimately, I received two of these products and neither actually worked at all. Philips charges a premium price for these and they don't deserve it. If I wanted half working lights, I'd use the ones I've DIYed in the past at a fraction of the cost.
