  • Excellent manual alternative to a litter robot
My inner circle includes a lot of fellow cat owners. Some have splurged on litter robots that automatically clean litter boxes. While that sounds like a great idea, those machines are so expensive and they jam and the motors break easily. I liked the concept of how these robots clean, however, by basically sifting all the litter. This Omega Paw litter box is a good compromise, with no electronic components that will break. It functions in mechanically the same way, by sifting all the litter into a compartment, and all the large waste solids get deposited into a removal basket. We have been using flushable litter exclusively, and our cat was already using tofu litter. Tofu litter works great in this unit. One thing to keep in mind is that like most cats, ours likes to pee in particular corners, and wet litter can stick to the bottom of the pan. The Omega Paw includes instructions stamped on the bottom of the unit to "tap" the bottom to release the wet clumps. Well, it's not so much tapping as it is forceful whacking with the palm of your hand. Just bear in mind it does take some more force to release stuck-on clumps, and even so, sometimes we have to reach in with a litter scoop to loosen the really stuck-on clumps. The ejection tray is easy to use and holds quite a bit of waste. Easy to deposit in the toilet (in small amounts) and flush. Happy to see that we got the upgraded model with metal clamps to hold the two main pieces of this unit together. I can see how the older plastic clips would be less reliable. Overall, we are very pleased and will happily purchase this type of litter box again. ... show more

  • Make Litter Box Maintenance a Breeze
The Omega Paw Elite Self Cleaning Litter Box is a large, innovative litter box that claims to make cleaning up after your cat quick and easy. The litter box is designed to sift out waste and clean itself, making it a convenient and low-maintenance option for cat owners. One of the standout features of the litter box is its self-cleaning mechanism. The box is designed with a unique grill that separates the waste from the clean litter. To clean the box, simply roll it over onto its top and then back again. The waste is then collected in a removable tray, making disposal simple and mess-free. The litter box is also spacious, providing ample room for even the largest of cats. The box is made of durable plastic and is built to withstand daily use, making it a long-lasting investment for cat owners. While the self-cleaning mechanism is a convenient feature, some users have reported that it doesn't always catch all of the waste, requiring additional scooping or cleaning. Additionally, some cats may be intimidated by the rolling motion of the litter box, making it difficult to train them to use it. Overall, the Omega Paw Elite Self Cleaning Litter Box is a convenient and low-maintenance option for cat owners looking to simplify the chore of cleaning the litter box. Its spacious design and durable construction make it a long-lasting investment, while the self-cleaning mechanism can help to reduce the time and effort required to clean up after your cat. However, it may not be suitable for all cats and may require additional scooping or cleaning to ensure optimal hygiene. ... show more

  • 5-stars! Absolutely WOULD buy again!
When my wife saw this litter box in our Amazon cart she thought I must have added it because a few weeks prior I'd mentioned that we needed a new litter box. It's a sad fact of having a cat (or 3, as we do) that you're not just going to spend a lot of time cleaning litter boxes, but as the smell WILL eventually permeate the litter box itself you're eventually going to need to replace the litter box, too. I never saw this litter box before, and the wife never added it to her cart, but it somehow got in there, and I've got to say I'm glad it did, because it works just great. I'm a little (read: A LOT!) skeptical about "self-cleaning" litter boxes, especially those automatic, powered ones, so when I saw that the manufacturers referred to this box as a self-cleaning litter box I was naturally skeptical. But it works great! Seriously! I don't know how the box got into my wife's Amazon cart but I'm glad it did because it really is great. Now it is NOT self-cleaning, you do still have to clean it, but the way you clean it is remarkably easy compared to the traditional sift, scoop & dump. When it's time to clean you just roll the box almost completely upside down (I'd say about 3/4 over), give the floor a knock or two to shake free any stubborn clumps, roll the box back up-right, remove the "clump drawer", empty the clumps, then reinsert the "clump drawer". Because of the very clever interior design, if you've correctly assembled the box all of the mostly-clean litter stays inside the box and only the clumps end up in the clump drawer. If you're a little anal/thorough like me, or have 3 cats (like me), you can always roll it back over a second time, or more, for a thorough cleaning. For refills I just tip the newly cleaned box up onto its back and poured litter directly into the opening. We also have one of those mats meant to trap the litter and stop the kitties from scattering their litter through the house. With our old litter box, even with the mat the kitties still got litter into the laundry and out into the kitchen. With the new litter box, some litter still makes it out onto the mat, but I've notice a lot less litter in the rest of the house. I don't know if it's the extra step on the box itself, or something else about the design, but it definitely seems like more litter is staying where it should be, and not getting to where it shouldn't. In addition to stopping the spread of litter, this box also seems to do a much better job trapping the ubiquitous odors that one associates with kitty litter boxes. Other reviewers have stated this box is larger than they expected. I don't know what they were using before but it's no bigger than our previous, lidded box. In fact it's actually a little smaller than the last lidded box we used. I'm not saying it's a small litter box. As far as lidded boxes go I'd say it's mid-sized. If you've never used a lidded box you may think it's big, but it's not big for a lidded box. ... show more
