    • Great robot litter box - I got 2!
This is a great robotic litterbox that doesn't break the bank...as much as some other robotic ones. I'd give this a solid 8.5/10 vs. my experience with other robotic litter boxes. Pros: + IT WORKS! This is the most important part. All other features are add-ons & luxuries, but the core function is that it has to automatically scoop up the poop & pee while leaving behind the clean litter. In this aspect, it performs very very well. For reference - I use Arm & Hammer Slide litter. The drum rotates to move the cat litter through a net, which then filters out the solid stuff from the otherwise sand-like litter and deposits the waste inside a box with a liner bag. No waste or litter has gotten stuck on the net for me. + It's quiet. Quiet enough that I can only hear it when I'm in the same area as the litter box. Any significant noise that is generated is from the actual solids falling into the waste box. + App functionality. This is a WIP, clearly as updates are still being made. But current features allow you to track which cat is in the box via weight. If you have 2 cats of similar weight, it probably won't work that well. The app allows you to manually operate the box or set a time delay for when it should run after a cat has used it. I've found that 30 minutes post use is a good time. The default 1 minute setting was way too soon. + Storage. The waste box isn't huge, but it's large enough to store everything for a week from 2 cats, if necessary. But it'd be pretty full. I generally prefer to change the liner bags 2x a week, on trash days. Those tend to be 1/3 full. Liner bags that come from the manufacturer are lightly scented and have drawstrings. They work, but you could probably use another bag if you'd like, as there's a plastic component that keeps the liner bags in place and would be compatible with other bags too. + Odor. I have 2 cats, so you can imagine that quite a bit of poop and pee happens. I haven't smelled any of the odor. The lined waste bin is effective at keeping odor at bay. Though keep in mind a larger contributor to this is the litter that I use. + Price. The price is competitive relative to other robot litter boxes. It's not super cheap, but it isn't asking for $600-700 dollars that so many robot litter boxes are asking for...and still somehow won't work perfectly. Cons: - App keeps logging me out & forgetting my machine at random. I'd say this happens once a month. This is a minor annoyance more than anything else. I have the app on my iPhone, but basically I have to log back in every time and there is no Face ID sign-in. You'll have to type your username (email) & password every time. Then, the app randomly forgets the litter box machine too, so I'll have to reconnect them. It's a quick process, but is annoying. I hope this will be addressed in future updates. The good thing is that all your previously set parameters remain, so the machine will still operate as usual. I only really access the app to trigger a manual clean, usually right before I tie the trash and take it out. You can do this in the app or by clicking the first button from left to right, on the base (I use my toe for this). I'm docking 1 point for this as it's an inconvenience that should be addressed. - Litter tracking. The opening to the litter box is relatively low, probably for ease of entry for even older/larger cats. This is good for futureproofing as our cats will inevitably get older. However, that also means that it's very common for some litter to get pushed out of litter box if your cat decides to do some intense digging. The cats will definitely track litter. Do note that the machine comes with a small litter tracking mat. I've alleviated most of this by using a large litter tracking mat. They should offer a small insert to snap onto the entry to prevent litter tracking. For this I'm docking 1/2 a point. As you can see, there are a lot more pros vs cons and most importantly the cons are not deal breakers. No core functionality is lost with the cons I've listed. Many other robot litter boxes cost more, and still somehow mess up on core functions. At least, with this box, it'll get the most important job done - cleaning the litter when needed without fuss. **UPDATE: No litter box can completely eliminate odor and this one works pretty well. I also stuck a rechargeable ION deodorizer on the left inside of the drum. This way, it isn't in the way of the cleaning rotation; and it comes off to charge or to clean the drum. It was noticeably better so much - that there is nearly zero odor within minutes of the kat using the box. While some speak to the litter that is stuck to the paws (normal), by putting the paver outside for a step up, it also helps with the litter issue. Lastly, the customer who made the suggestion that a sliding door closes when it rotates would be an excellent idea!! My kat does like to "interfere" with the rotation - and the device works well to pause while she's being nosy. I did a lot of looking; chatted with several companies, and bought an open box (since Kona seemed to prefer) that was more work than not. This product is great. First, the communication is excellent (although not by email. Def go through Amazon messages). It is quiet and Kona used it right away. After a week, she is still hesitant, and accepting. The comments about size is odd. It is less wide than almost any others. So, for smaller spaces, it is great. The instructions could use more explanation about the features although it is not too difficult to figure out. On the be aware category, some comment on the litter outside the box. There can be a little (the mat catches it though). Over time, it is less and less because Kona was pawing it from outside and I also reduced the fill. (Note the fill line is not the yellow sticker - it’s the embossed line inside the box as I made that mistake). When a cat is pawing at it; the box registered weight. For those that aren’t the registered cats, those should be able to be deleted (a tip for the future app updates). On odor, it does not have an ION system like others. I slipped a Febreze small spaces (pet) in the bottom of the waste container before putting in the bag.. that helps so much when opening to remove the waste bag. A future version could be 1-1.5 inches deeper. Kona is on the smaller side, and can imagine a really big cat might be a problem. I put a brick in the front to create a step up for Kona and that also serves as a slight enough weight to keep the mat in place.. While she didn’t need the step because it’s entrance is one of the shortest among others, I did it in the early stage to help her get used to it and like that it gives an additional purpose. *you can see it in the photo One of the comments earlier said it only measured in kg - it measures in pounds. Overall, I’m pleased with my purchase but like all products this litter robot has pluses and minuses. Pros: + It’s pretty dang good at keeping the litter clean + It’s reasonably silent when in use + Easy to change poop trapper/replace litter + Fun to get notifications of when the cat poops + the app has good settings and is reasonably responsive + Very safe for cat bc it stops whenever he goes to supervise it Cons: - You will need to change the poop container more frequently bc you’re exposing the stinky poop instead of letting it stay buried (This is with Tidy Cats Glade litter and it being hot in the house mind you) - The weight tracking function is consistent but inaccurate (but tbf it recommends the machine sit on hard wood and all I got is carpet) -You do have to take it apart every 3 months, or so, and hose it down which is annoying ... show more
