  • She gets by on looks alone.
The speaker looks awesome. Feels solid too, like a quality product. But... I picked this up because a recent rearrangement of my desk and my monitors didn't allow me to use my monitor speakers anymore (Edifier R1280T). Something small and compact that would fit under my center screen seemed like the right direction to go. It feels like a quality unit. Nice heft to it, everything feels great from the "wood", the metal grating on the front, the plate on the back, and the LED knob on the side. It gets great scores in that department. It's well constructed and feels good. The included cables aren't too bad either, they're both braided and of respectable length. Initially I had it set down, flat, under my monitor as most people probably would, which makes it fire right into my sternum. If you know anything about audio and how most near field speakers are meant to be used, you want it pointing at your head. Laying flat, shooting it's sound center mass at me, this thing sounds awful. Zero soundstage, zero imaging, some frequencies are muddy, some are bloated, some seem to be missing. So I angled it up. And guess what? It still has zero sound stage and zero imaging. Because it's a small soundbar. It can't do those things. Clarity increased a tiny bit, but every other flaw is still there. To be blunt, this thing doesn't sound good. There is no sub bass, which is to be expected of something this size, so I can't really dock it there. Mid bass is bloated and heavily bleeds into the mids. Mids are very recessed to the point of just not being there sometimes. Highs explode out of it. This thing sounds like cheap tv speakers thrown into a box enclosure. It's power hungry too. I have it (the device itself is at max volume) running through a Micca OriGenG2 (I also tried a Fosi Audio Q4, Soundavo HP-DAC1, and my mini tube amp), and at high gain, I have to get it to 50% or more before everything starts coming through. Which is a bad thing, because in order to get everything to come through, other things come through WAY too much, and at that point it's far, far above my normal listening level. It does get loud, I'll give it that. But volume isn't sound quality. I don't use speakers often, I primarily use headphones at the PC, but sometimes I just don't feel like wearing them, or I'm doing something else and want to listen to a video or something without being tethered down. But even that is difficult with this thing. What made me finally sit down and write a review was how annoying this speaker was while trying to watch a video on YouTube. The video is by a female content creator, with her, and male speakers. Every time a male spoke I had to turn the volume down because they'd make the mid bass blow up, and every time the female spoke I had to turn it way up, because I couldn't hear her. I was literally watching the video with my hand on the volume knob, constantly turning it up and down. That same video through headphones, my other speakers, or even on my phone's speakers, doesn't have that problem. I tried to listen to music on it and all I can hear are the highs, high mids, some boomy mid bass sometimes, and nothing in between. This speaker is all looks and no substance. I have an Oontz Angle Solo that sounds far better than this, and has the added benefit of being a battery powered Bluetooth device. It's also half the price. ... show more

  • I totally love this device!
I had no idea I was so far behind the times. I had the old fashion wired, two-speakers that were soooo annoying when the cat got into the wires. I love this bar style, and the wood is a nice modern touch

  • Updated: Amazing customer service - product works very well
This is a nice speaker for the cost. The sound quality is meets my use case perfectly (i.e., voice and music during Zoom calls). Furthermore, the customer service is exemplary. They swiftly responded to my concerns and generously offered to make things right. I recommend this product for folks with similar use cases ... show more

  • Pretty, low-tech, and reliable
Like others, I was pleasantly surprised by this speaker. It's got a nice design and finish, giving off a quality appearance. I like the on/off click on the volume control, the subtle lighting effect on the dial, the light wood veneer, the front material. All around, it's attractive. The sound is acceptable for the size. It does have a moderate stereo effect when sitting in front of a PC. I bought this instead of a Dell sound bar. I chose this because it is low-tech. "Works with Linux." Just a speaker. Plugs into 3.5mm audio jack. USB powered. That's smart. Overall a good value. No regrets. ... show more

  • Very nice speaker for cheap
I like the sound quality and the material grain looks great with the rest of my furniture. The item came to me with a huge dent on the top and a crack. I lined it up the best I could and used some wood filler to mask its bit. I did not want to see something so nice just end up in the trash if I returned it . ... show more

  • Looks good on my work desk
I keep this speaker on my desk at work to be able to listen to music during the day. It looks nice with the wood grain appearance and nice face to it. I had tried 3 or 4 other speakers prior to buying this one and am happy that I did. The volume control knob works nice and also acts as an on/off switch. ... show more

  • Looks Great - Sounds Great!
I was in the market to find a speaker system to work with a 22 inch ViewSonic monitor in my studio. I have my Apple TV connected to it and stream shows and movies while working. I am a graphic designer and illustrator and the MICA sound bar caught my eye – I am very happy with the overall aesthetic of the speaker and it looks great in the studio (I got the black one). The sound is very good, but thought it would be louder at its max volume setting, but fine for TV. I also connected this to my Sony TV via the usb port and speaker outlet on the tv, just to see if it would work. When the volume on the TV was at its max of 100 it sounded adequate, but probably will not use it with the tv. I also tested this with my iPad for music and it sounds very good and seems to be more control with a louder sound output versus the monitor. In addition, I may buy an extension surge protector with usb ports to free up the slot for my iMac. I'm also thinking of making a custom stand or use stacked blocks of wood to raise the monitor so I can slide the speaker under it for a more space saving design. Overall, Happy Camper. ... show more

  • Fantastically simple, and built to last
While this may not be "premium" build quality, it is excellent for it's price. And the design is perfectly designed to last. While this should be obvious to any manufacturers of speakers (or any corded product) that the wires are the weakest point. These speakers all have entirely replaceable/pluggable wiring between units, power, and your audio output device. I had to scrap my last 2 speaker sets because within 2-3 months the wire had a kink and would only play if it sat at a very specific angle. And shortly after stopped working altogether. Even if the wire gets messed up on these (which I don't think it will for much longer this is 3-4x the gauge wire LG was using on the set I bought), then I can just replace the cables and leave the speakers as is. And they are all standard cables, nothing proprietary and obnoxious. All around fantastic design. Only small problem is the internal sound controller will allow you to turn the volume up WAY past what the speakers are intended for. But as long as you stop turning them up before they start to crackle you'll be fine. And they are plenty loud at that point, filling my office with more volume than I'd ever want. So if they tweak the max volume these speakers allow themselves to go then I'd say they're perfect. ... show more
