  • Caramel Unicorn Hair Tint: Dyed and gone to Unicorn Heaven! Lime Crime Unicorn Hair Tints are DIY-friendly, damage-free formulas that leave a light wash of fantasy color to add a kick of cool to your hair... all from the comfort of your own home. Caramel is a warm caramel that will make your fantasy hair color dreams come true, and its sugary citrus vanilla scent will make your transformation even sweeter!
  • Why You Need It: Not only do our damage-free, vegan hair tints give you fun pastel color, but this formula also contains conditioning ingredients like fatty acids and vitamins that help to moisturize your hair and boost shine.
  • Before You Use It: Unicorn Hair Tints deposit pastel, muted, and lighter shades onto hair, and the watercolor effect of Tints leaves a soft wash of color on pre-lightened platinum to pale blonde hair. The life cycle of the color depends on the shade and condition of your hair and how often you wash it. Always do a patch and strand test before coloring your full head because results may vary.

  • This one color “sext” is off-do a strand test
Color: Sext (Dusty Rose)
I will start by saying I have tried 4 other lime crime colors in the past few months and they are generally fantastic , and they have always shown up very close to the colors on the box. I was very excited for this color, I didn’t think I needed a strand test as my hair was a level 9/10 and in ok condition . I did a split dye with “mochi” on the other part of my head. “Sext” is a smokier pink on the box, but it turned mostly light patchy brown with a hint of red on my hair. It was on for 3 hours, just like the mochi side at the same time. The mochi side looks awesome. I am very unhappy with the “sext” color, it looks terrible in real life ( not sure the pic captures it) . I now have a brownish and purple split dye instead of the pink and purple and it is gross looking. Still trying to figure out the best way to fix it, either a gentle color remover or maybe putting a brighter pink over it. Learn from my mistake, do a strand test or at least a swatch to see how the “smokier” colors come out for you. I am very disappointed and will be looking into other brands of dye for my next look. ***update** did some vitamin c treatments (my usually pretty effective way to remove semi/demi permanent colors) and they took all the remaining pink out and now I am left with a horrid green mud color. Not the kind of color you can leave the house with, I’m going to have to try to fix it again ASAP. I guess it has strong green or blue mixed in there as an undertone. I didn’t have problems with removing other colors from this line. I would strongly suggest not using the color “sext” , or if you risk it please do a strand test for the love of all that is holy! Off to find a new color that may cover the current “swamp” situation. ... show more

  • Works if your hair is the right color. Before and after photos attached.
I have before and after photos posted, using Cloud. I dyed my hair platinum first. Then I toned it to get rid of the bronze. If you want a periwinkle color, you cannot have any orange or even yellow in your hair. It must be completely platinum, or else it will just turn all kinds of weird colors. I experienced a bit of that myself with this product because my hair isn’t fully platinum. I used two of the Unicorn Hair tints in “Cloud”. If you have longer hair, you need at least 2 jars of product to get adequate coverage. The biggest issue I’ve seen is that people don’t use enough or don’t have the proper base hair color for the the product. Please make sure to read and follow the instructions. It says to leave the product in for 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on how intense you want the color to be. I left it in for the full two hours. Product was easy to use and didn’t smell rancid like most dyes. Actually smelled good. No burning or itching of the scalp. Very gentle on the hair. I rinsed it out and it definitely worked. Some of my hair turned grey-ish, which I’m not too mad at because it goes with the periwinkle. Again, if your hair is not completely platinum, then the color won’t take. Even parts of my hair didn’t take, because the bottom part of my hair wasn’t completely platinum. But overall I’m impressed with how it turned out and I’m very happy. ... show more

  • Sad it didn’t work it’s such a cute color
Color: Sushi (Muted Peach)
Friends had recommended this product for my daughter, her daughters hair turned out so cute. Though when we tried it, we did two sitting and it did not turn out. My daughter has super thin blonde hair and it just did not hold.

  • Not the worst but not great
Color: Gargoyle (Stone Grey)
Smells nice, easy, basic application, but it came out greenish/blueish/greyish which was not the desired color. It's fine but I won't be buying it again.

  • More perfume than dye: 2 days of pink, 7 days of stink
Color: Sext (Dusty Rose)
I have used similar semi-permanent dyes like Manic Panic and Punky Colour many times in the past, am familiar with the process of using these types of dyes, and have been pleased with the results from those brands. I opted for Lime Crime's Unicorn Hair in Sext because I was looking for a dusty rose shade to create a "rose gold" effect on bleached highlights. The first thing I noticed upon opening the container was an extremely strong, pungent, perfumey fragrance emanating from the jar. This surprised me, as I am used to the very mild, neutral scents of other vegetable dyes like Manic Panic. I see that Lime Crime claims their product has a vanilla scent and although the fragrance may contain a synthetic vanilla note, the overall effect is a very intense, drugstore "perfume" scent. I cannot overstate how strong and persistent the scent was: it took a full week for the scent to fade, and the first three days I felt suffocated by a thick miasma of cheap perfume - almost like I had dunked my head in a vat of a knock-off of Poison by Dior. Over the next several days, it transitioned to a scented doll head fragrance and then eventually to an insect repellent type scent. The color, on the other hand, was gone after two washes. I had applied the color to clean, dry hair that was free of all product (including conditioner), covered with a plastic cap, and let it sit for an hour. Upon rinsing out the dye, I was left with the faintest pink tint in the highlighted sections of my hair. The tint was only visible in very bright light and not otherwise noticeable. I would only recommend this product to someone who was looking for an extremely subtle color for a one-day, well-lit, outdoor event - like an outdoor, daytime wedding - and who can tolerate strong scents. I would not recommend this product for anyone planning to spend time indoors in the company of other people in the first three days after use; I think it would trigger migraines for those with fragrance/chemical sensitivities. ... show more

  • Strange color
Color: Cloud (Periwinkle Blue)
I was hoping for a cute periwinkle / pale purple color, like some people seem to have achieved going by the few photos I could find online. I tested it on my bangs that were lifted to around a level 8.5-9, and it just looked like a kinda strange grey with a slight purple tinge. Probably would look more purple in sunlight rather than in indoor lighting, and definitely would look better if my hair was lifted to a level 10 instead if still having some yellow in it. The color took a while to completely fade, even with clarifying shampoo. Ended up just bleaching it out the next time I did my roots. ... show more
